Backing Up a M939 in Low Range

Correct. Reverse ratio is like 10:1 ? Needs to be 6:1. I have heard a rumor that a MT653 has a numerically lower reverse gear ratio, and that it will interchange with a MT654cr reverse gearset. Anyone done it yet?

    LED Headlights for M923A2

If you install LED headlamps on a M939, be sure and have good ground. I ran a separate ground wire from my starter ground stud, to each headlamp mounted in the hood. Took a minute, but well worth it. If you run the LED's with a weak ground, they will fail in a short time. Too expensive for...

    Fuel tank filler screen

On my M939's, A0/A1 trucks it is a right hand thread. It will unscew from the tank. I used a NAPA filter wrench to unscrew mine. Think like big channellocks, but a filter wrench. Not the strap kind.

    Tire Age in Hmmwvs

Couple of things will destroy a tire, and yet it will look good on the outside. 1) Running underinflated. This causes the tread package to "unglue" from the tire carcass, due to excessive heat, and fail even though the tire still looks good. 2) Age. Check your date codes! 3) Sitting flat...

    M923A2 Question about Parking Brake!!!

Be aware that the failsafe module grounds at it's location with one of the two 7/16" bolts that secures the module to the truck. I had a couple other issues, such as gas gauge acting up, and I had installed new led headlights, so I built a ground harness for the truck. Ran a ground from the...

Moving to Oklahoma and I want to take my M35 and trailer.

Drive it and haul your stuff, or have Simp haul the truck. Might consider contacting 98G, he may deliver it for pay, and then I give him a ride back home.

    Need Help with Batteries

    (2) Interstate MTP-65 work great for me, in 3 different NHC-250 powered trucks. Works great on heavy equipment as well. If cold temperatures give you starting issues, rebuild your starter, and add a coolant heater. No need for 4 batteries where I live.

Hard Choice: Buy M923A2 -OR- Wait For LMTV ?

Take a block of wood or 3 with you, so that you can stack them under m1101 trailer jack in order to get the trailer tall enough to hitch on.

    What's involved with collapsing down a M813?

Definitely take the soft top off. If the steering wheel attendant decides to load the truck backwards, the soft top will not survive.

    What's involved with collapsing down a M813?

What tires are on it? What height do you have to get it down to? Let the air out of the tires.

Non-ether cold weather starting solutions for the 8.3?

Also, a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator does wonders for heat once started. Cardboard is cheap, infinitely adjustable, and if discarded, doesn't matter.

Non-ether cold weather starting solutions for the 8.3?

Yes. We park our dump trucks battery box to battery box, so that we can jump one to another in a very short distance. There has been many an occasion that we had no power on a remote job site, and if it were not for the equipment being parked in certain order, nothing would have started. If...

M939 as a welder power supply?

6010-5P is my favorite rod. Makes me look good. 98G can do 7018 and it looks like art when finished.

Non-ether cold weather starting solutions for the 8.3?

Coolant heaters work excellent. Get one that is application specific, not a generic one that goes in the radiator hose. I believe my NHC-250 uses 1500-1750 watts. I find that 2 hours will start a truck, but 4 hours and you are golden. They start effortlessly, and very quick. I can get you...

M939 as a welder power supply?

98G has several welders he needs to try out. Or you can borrow mine, it's already been to AZ once.

    M900 comfort upgrades

My freightliner dump truck is a junky pile, but it has a brand new $400 seat in it. Best money ever spent. Second best is an iPod and a nice set of Beats headphones.

Hard Choice: Buy M923A2 -OR- Wait For LMTV ?

Buy a first generation LMTV, which has the non computer Cat 3116, change the oil, run clean fuel, and keep the air out of the fuel. All LMTV have a computerized transmission......... I also feel that the LMTV will be more expensive to acquire than a MTV, due to ease of operation and no cdl...

Hard Choice: Buy M923A2 -OR- Wait For LMTV ?

I would buy the M923a2 if it is a good clean truck. The M939's are almost gone at auction, and prices are ridiculous. You can always use a second truck, for towbarring or recovery of your first truck. In an emergency, a second truck can lend parts, air, or a jump start to your other truck...

Axles Texas to NC(or close) $$

Not heading East at this point. If I get enough together for a trip, I may hand off with Simp or wait and see who else might be heading your way. I mainly do OKC GL pickups and storage.
