The fiberglass top of a 1009 is not the best foundation to mount a RTT. You might build a cage connecting to sturdier parts of the frame/body but don't expect that top to support any weight especially off road.
I knew how to cage the brakes but thought he'd plumb in through the glad hands so he could use my brakes. For some reason, whether him hooking it up wrong or something wrong with my truck, that didn't work so he then caged the brakes. If I'd known they needed caged I could have done it in the...
I had to have an emergency tow with my M1078. I pulled the rear axle shafts but didn’t cage the brakes since I assumed he’d be able to hook into the glad hands and use them. Turns out he couldn’t get it to work so charged me an additional $25 to cage them after all. For about 180 miles it was...
For a Colorado the 416 or even up to a M101 would probably be the right size. It all depends on how much stuff you want to put into it. The 101 has a bigger tub but of course that comes with the offset of more weight and a wider footprint. Unfortunately you probably won't see any of them...
You only have a couple of inches of freeboard on the Goat so any swells can easily swamp it. The winch will make it nose heavy which is why they advise against swimming with one but it's handy if you want to "pre-connect" to something and back down a boat ramp. In the event of sinkage you know...
Well guys I’m going to have to bail (no pun intended for the rain forecast). I woke up Sunday morning feeling great and by 1600 I was hacking up a lung. It’s only gotten worse the last 2 days. Just consider this my favor to ya’ll in not bringing this crud over to share.
Unless they've changed the rules vendors have always been allowed to camp at their spot. You have to fit in it so I would usually get 2 spots so I could pull my truck and trailer straight in and leave them hooked up. While the swap meet isn't the primary reason for the weekend it is a nice...
I’m still coming but likely leaving the MVs at home as neither are fit to drive in the rain and no sense dragging them a couple hundred miles to sit at the off-road park.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your M1078 isn't hardened against an EMP strike. What you need is a pre-60's vehicle like the M37 that doesn't rely on so much electronic junk.
You're correct in that they appear to exclude these vehicles even if they've been converted to a RV configuration (absolutely in the case of school buses but they'd likely point to the other examples in the case of a LMTV). Two of the most important things in the policy to review are (these...
Sorry but I'm going to call BS on this one. Having worked for a national insurance company I can tell you that if you have something on your policy they can't deny it just because you're in a different part of the country. If you have verifiable proof of this happening (and I'm not talking...
Well the Champ hasn't been running since the Veteran's Day Parade. I got home and the starter would not engage so wound up pushing it off the trailer and into the shop and there it sat. A couple of times I've been out to try and diagnose the problem and couldn't come up with anything. I...
