This site is heading the way of the old MV list. If some people don't like other people's ideas, why not just ignore them or hit the delete button? I feel bad for the guys who think they have come up with a good ides, share it with the forum and then get flamed, not once but multiple times...
I do plug them all in right after I shut down for the night. Park rig, idle couple minutes, shut down, gather coffee cup, thermos, cigars, cell phone, garbage from the trip, climb out, fall down, plug in heater, go home.
The common reason for burning out coolant heaters is leaving them plugged in when you start the engine. as the engine starts, the coolant begins to circulate and causes turbulence in the passages, believe it or not, there can and are voids in the flow of coolant , like air pockets , this will...
I set my Multi Fuel valves at .015 intake cold and .025 exhaust cold. the original manuals said .010 and .025, I agree. But .010 was pretty tite and we all decided the old guys were right, loose is a lot better than tight unless you're not talking about valves. JT out
I rebuilt one of mine with spray cleaner, o rings from a standard kit and a hand cut gasket. It works perfect now and leaks a little bit. You can get a brand new air valve from Memphis Equipment Co. for $195 plus some shipping. I did that too, cause I didn't trust the one I rebuilt. Funny...

As you investigate the...
Well, the top two adjusting bolts adjust the top of the shoes, called fine adjustment.
The lower two adjusters with lock nuts on them adjust the lower part of the shoes, called initial adjustment. There is a view port on the brake drum that will accept a narrow feeler gauge to set the lower...
On a 5 ton, more than likely, it is the air valve on the right top side of your transmision. It screws up. Then, no engagement in one direction r the other. The 5 ton sprag is big and tough, usually doesn't break. If your axle is screwed up, it would do it all the time, not only in certain...
I bought a M1028 with 40,000 on it this fall, and It truly has only 40K on it, never owned a Chevy that runs as nice as this one, and what a Plow truck. If it would have had 4.11s in it it would be perfect. JT
If you all notice I've been thanking people with useful info on CUCVs. My realm is deuces, but I bought a pair of 1008s and I am really starting to like them. one has a plow on it and its great. better than the skidsteer without cab I must admit. JT out
