I have a 934 converted to a 927 by the Government. It has extensions. I also have a parts 5 ton truck rolling chassis but it is the older ones with hydraulic brakes.
I just did this yesterday and can say you absolutely need a 3/4 impact minimum and I had to use my shop air compressor as it goes to 160 psi. HF impact and HF deep impact socket set, not too expensive. The nuts are locking type so the will be hard to turn almost all the way out. I used lots of...
By the way, I know Red has off-roaded a deuce without front axle engagement, while pulling an M105 trailer. This was in Big Bend National Park. It was not truly cross-country but the trails there are not graded roads, not by a long shot.
El Paso cross-country experience
I have driven many miles in the desert terrain around El Paso. I have yet to have a mesquite thorn penetrate an MV tubeless tire. Not saying it cannot happen, just not to me yet. When I off-road, I frequently drive right through small mesquite bushes. I find...
I am not sure if I am the one Carnac refers to but I had issues with tubed tire off-roading in the El Paso area. The problem is if you air down significantly due to the terrain, the wheel spins in the tire ripping the valve stem off the tube. Problem solved with combat wheels and bead locks...
I lightly rub the bed cross members above all four rear tires on full trunnion articulation with no load in the bed. Truck is an M927 with Goodyear ATs.
I have used cots, an air mattress, and hammock on different occasions to sleep in the deuce, up off the floor. Two of my cousins and I camped out on cots just last weekend. I hang my hammock from the first bow stave on one side to the third bow stave on the other side.
I put 395s on my deuce for the floatation and higher road speed. My off-roading involved sugar sand and I run pretty low pressures on the rears. I have spun the tires on the wheels when I had tubeless tire, resulting in instant flats. Current setup is MRAP wheels and tires with Peashooter's...
Hi John, welcome from FAR west Texas. If you have not yet met our Chaplain John (from San Angelo), you need to. He is a great ambassador to this hobby.

I have also considered copying the HiLo design using the entire truck bed as the lower half and building an upper half to lower around the bed. There is plenty of space under the bed for the lift system that HiLo uses. That would utilize all of the available bed space as you desire but it...
I built crossmembers for the trailer so I would have a place for the camper jacks to affix to. The crossmembers are exactly the width of the inside bed width so they limit side to side movement. Two turnbuckles are used to pull the front of the trailer forward and down against the head board...
I did not take any pictures of the trucks together. My brother in law (mdemars03) took a video of the horn honk. I will see if he will post it. I think Dennis (nmsmitty) took some but he posts them on his Facebook page.
Had a great time
We had wonderful time out at the lake. Thanks to Dennis for all he and his family do to host us out there. It was great to see all that made it, and I was thinking of those that were not able to join us this year.
I have included pictures of where the wife and I had to rough...
Camping trailer up there is close to over height, depends on the trailer. I have an Army 927 with drop sides but the bed width is 7'4" inside to inside. I did find a vintage HiLo trailer that fits perfectly and lowers for traveling.
i put camper jacks on the trailer and can now load or unload...
Not only are the silicone hoses more expensive, you should be buying clamps for silicone hoses as well. Yes, they are more expensive as well. The difference between a regular clamp and a silicone hose clamp is that the latter has extra un-perforated material to prevent the perforated (slotted)...
How about using a spring brake chamber from a big truck as the actuator, air to release and applied by venting.
24 VDC linear actuators in various strokes and ratings are available pretty cheap on surpluscenter.com
