    Flat Towing & Registration

If you are using I-10 through El Paso, be aware that the interstate is closed until 0600 hrs tomorrow due to construction. Loop 375 (Transmountian) is one alternative but you have to go up and over the mountain and it is quite steep. There are runaway truck ramps. I like to use the 404 highway...

wiring a light bar into a Deuce

Taking power from one battery will kill both in the series. The advantage of univolt lights is the work on our trucks as is.

Help me plan how to pull and replace my motor and trans I CHALLENGE you for Ideas!!!!

Rent or borrow an A-frame, and use a come-a-long. Lift the engine and roll the truck out from under. Many a-frames disassemble for easy transport.

    Elephant Butte luminaria walk

Thought I would post this here for more targeted exposure. The annual luminaria walk at Elephant Butte Lake is scheduled for December 9th. Dennis posted about it in the "upcoming events" section. He and Powell are trying to get an idea of who will be making it out.

    Batterys

If you are saying you have 12 volt loads (lights) hooked to one of the batteries, that is the cause of your problem. You need to pull only 24 volts from the battery pair for them to live long and prosper.

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

I have a large slide-in camper for my truck I acquired this vintage HiLo travel trailer and it turns our it is exactly 7'4" wide. Took off the axles, made crossmembers for camper jacks, and threw it on there. (Actually, it almost throws itself up there.)

    Hydraulic fuses for brakes

Yeah, but they do stop repeatedly when they have to because they are surrounded by spectators. Again, this would be a system for use in an emergency.

    395/85r20 bed clearance

I have had 395s on stock wheel and on MRAP wheels on my deuce. The tires will rub slightly on the bed but no damage will occur. The louvers on the front are a big problem with stock wheels. I solved that problem by widening the front wheels 3 inches to the outside. This was easy to do by cutting...

    Hydraulic fuses for brakes

With more pinion brakes you have sharing of the load. A monster truck at a four wheel center here in El Paso has one for the rear axle set and one on the front. All of the original brake drum components have been removed. I have seen that truck make quick stops without issue. As an emergency...

    Hydraulic fuses for brakes

The pinion brakes are very effective because they benefit from the axle gearing. The drawback is they get very hot very quickly. Premium racing style brake pads are able to handle significant heating and are not that expensive. I did not suggest this setup for use as regular braking. It would...

    Hydraulic fuses for brakes

For those seeking to dispense with the single point of failure, I suggest adding a pinion brake with its own master cylinder and either a foot pedal or hand lever. This is relatively inexpensive. It does detract from original appearance but would not be too noticeable if installed between the...

    Hydraulic fuses for brakes

Those fuses are for hydraulic system with significant fluid reserves. I doubt they would work properly in this case. Replacing the lines, hoses, and seals goes a long way to reliability.

Removing the spacer between the bed and frame.

Remember that there are a bunch of rivet heads protruding above the frame that will still need a spacer to prevent rubbing.

Going down on tire size on a M932A2

There are a bunch of trucks out at Elephant Butte Lake used for towing fifth wheels that have the hitch mounted between the frame rails.
