Lots to do under there that's for sure, checked all fluids before we left, no axle seals or brakes leaking, and axle boots are good. Still need to grease it, and parking brake shoes are worn out, how difficult is it to reline them with the linings from Eriks?
I got my hands on two trucks last weekend, one is running great, drove it home, the other won't start, hydraulic head was stuck. Found the clip, it's ok ad the button has one little ding on the edge and I already stoned it. The plunger guide is broken and I'll order a couple in am, my question...
Went on recovery Saturday, got the dead truck loaded with a snatch block and the winch truck no problem. Checked out a few things on the winch truck and made the 100 mile drive without incident!
Ya it's not slipping on the shaft at all, will take 2 big pipe wrenches with me, I left it saturated in penetrating oil. I'm hoping there's enough winch input shaft exposed to get the pipe wrench on so I can get it to line up. If I don't get a pin in it we will get the other truck halfway on the...
I'm guessing it's galled already bc the current owner said the truck pulled a stump out like it is, prob is that I need it to winch the other truck onto the trailer. I ordered a few odds and ends and some shear pins, I'll just have to take punches and drills with me. How do you go about lining...
Well I went back today, I got the winch controls freed up and checked for function, all is well except that apparently the shear pin is sheared. The owner says he used it some time ago and it pulled but the pin has to be sheared off and the shaft spun bc there is a pin hole in both sides of the...
I've been absent for a very long time, just wayyyy too much going on with life. I went last weekend and checked out 2 trucks, one is a non runner so will haul it, the other checks out except that below about 1500 rpm it surges and sometimes falls too far then dies. Above 1500 or so it runs...
I pulled a bunch of stuff for a few guys here a while back but have not been able to ship, I am a one man atv/utv/motorcycle repair shop and have been swamped for months. I have been averaging 30+ units sitting here waiting to be worked on, along with being a single parent now there is just no...
How much do the aluminum rims interfere with the drums? Could one put the inner half in a lathe and bore some clearance into it? Of course I wouldn't want to remove too much.
Ok that is kind of what I thought about just being careful with the starter, wasn't sure if one could roll it over with a wrench or not. It looks like the owner of the two I want is finally going to have time to check them out soon.
They still have plenty, mostly on aluminum but there are still some on steel as well, the tread quality varies. It is at premier metal buyers in Brenham. Chad is the yard manager and is very helpful, they will unband and unstack to let you get what you want.
Did you get those new tires mounted yet? I pulled two horns today and they just use a small poly air line probably 5/16 or 3/8". Will try to get a pic up tomorrow.
If it's the same horn as the caimans there are a bunch of them at the scrapyard, going tomorrow am to harvest more lights anyway. Can someone post a pic of a deuce horn?
