Welcome - from another tripod in the three-State, two-Country stance beside CARNAC. An M105 is a bit large for pickup truck duty, as is being discussed in an active thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?38402-Towing-a-M105a2-w-civilian-Pick-Up
Replace the throwout bearing. I believe it is a standard bearing size available at any bearing supply place. At least it is a common bearing on the 5 ton multifuel trucks.
EDIT: sorry, I meant the pilot bearing is a standard bearing.
My 97 3/4T 4x4 reg cab long bed diesel weighs 6900# empty. My 05 3/4T 4x4 x-cab short bed diesel weighs 7100# empty. Both w/o driver/passengers. This is from certified scales after unloading scrap metal.
Pulled an empty 105 300 miles though west Texas and much of Big Bend National Park with the...
I had considered an airbag setup. If you place a pair of bags between the frame and front-rear axle to push down, it would unload the rear-rear. My thought was you do not have to push so hard as to actually lift the rear-rear. You just have to slightly increase the amount of weight carried by...
I believe the tires you mention in the original post will be problematic on the stock A2 wheels. If I recall, there is incompatibility with the tire bead area. So you may now need to embark on the search for the elusive A3 wheels.
I have MRAP 395's with bead locks and run flat inserts on...
Just for giggles, have you checked around the base of the turbo where it mounted to the exhaust manifold? One of my trucks had a leak due to loose nuts but the guy that spotted the problem (experienced) told me that blown out gaskets are common. Fairly cheap and easy to replace if that is the cause.
Have you thought about having the 395's gone through by a tire groover? Removing every other row of lugs should do something. And since the tires are regroovable, you could also go deeper in the valleys for even more aggressive tread.
Never/rarely on a good brake system. The TM 9-2320-209-20-3-2 includes the bleeding instructions starting on page 120. I do not think it specifies a routine time interval though. A spongy brake pedal is the symptom that indicates bleeding is called for. If a brake pedal travels almost to the...
Take it from another desert rat, it does happen despite the dry air. You can get a waterlogged load of fuel easily. small amounts of fuel below the pump pickup point will remain there and allow the algae to grow. Apparently, I have not read the TM's sufficiently to run across the technical term...
