Since I now own an M1097R1 and a M1078, I went and picked up a harbor freight 12/24V jump box. They have the 30% sales every few months, and I waited and purchased one at 30% off. It's been a great asset and it comes in handy when needed. I mostly use the 12V, but occasionally I need it on one...
If it is a 3 speed, it has to be in neutral to start, so make sure you are in neutral. There is also a neutral safety switch which can go bad, so if you are certain that you are in neutral and get nothing, I would also check your neutral safety switch to be sure it is good. I would think there...
That just sounds like air in the system. Lift tires off ground, start engine and turn wheel from side to side 20 times (full turns from far left to far right), then turn off and remove cap. You will prob see some foam and bubbles. Wait about 5 mins, then put top back on and repeat. Do this until...
I've got two of the higher end group 24 Walmart batteries in mine and never have any issues. I think I paid about $89 each for them. I started off with 27DCs, but they would not fit properly so I took them back and got the group 24.
Anyone have an idea on the diameter of the windshield retaining pins? I guess I could buy one and get the specs off of it, but I was hoping someone might know the specs or maybe have one laying around they could verify for me. Thanks in advance if you have one! I just hate to pay $40 to $50 plus...
It does seem like the world's worst people, with the worst personality, seem to end up in a job where they have to serve the public daily. And they hate every minute of it and take their hate out on their customers! Why is that? lol
I can see it running down the side of the dash, and it drips down onto my feet, but I cannot tell where it is coming from. If you look up under the area where the arrow is pointing, it is running down the face of that back flat area right under there where the arrow points. Right at the seam of...
Does anyone know the diameter of the windshield retaining pins? These type pins can be bought for a fraction of the price of what the HMMWV ones are going for, so if anyone knows the diameter of them or any of the other specs, please share them. Mine are all too rusted to get out in one piece...
I just rebuilt a Saginaw box for my Iron Planet purchase. That was the only major defect on the HMMWV, other than a lot of small piddling issues like wipers, wiper sprayer, missing lights, etc. It was not that difficult to rebuild. Hardest part of was getting it off the vehicle. If you can find...
Very nice. Assuming you didn't buy that from an auction site! lol I just ordered a 2 man to 4 man conversion kit for My 1097R1, along with a new 4 man tan top. I have decided to go back with the desert tan on mine (current color), but I plan to use the truck bed liner instead of just paint. I...
Mine won't self cancel but works good otherwise. I just thought they were all manual, so didn't even realize it was supposed to self cancel.
I catch myself riding around with mine blinking, so would like to fix it if possible so I don't look like the old geezer I'm becoming. Now I'm wondering...
Everything I’ve shipped went through veritread and I got great prices and easy deliveries, so I’ve had great luck with them. Just saying.
If shipping freight, freightquote.com is one to check as well.
The white smoke is usually from unburned diesel. As suggested, run it a bit. If the unit was sitting a long time, the rings often need to get some work before things reseat properly. I had a bit of blowback on mine when first started but after running it a bit, that cleared up for me.
I have noticed a knock or bumping sound near the front driver's side when turning and accelerating. It only does it during a turn really. I've pulled and pushed on everything under the HMMWV and can't find anything moving or lose. Just wondering if anyone has run into something similar or if...
I just rebuilt my box. The kit I got from one of the military suppliers was not correct. The input seals were too small, and the pitman arm seals failed instantly. I did some digging and found an old post on another site that stated his M1097 gearbox matched a 1979 Malibu 350, so I searched for...
