Yeah, there is a short to ground somewhere..... unfortunately I learned this also last week. I had a hot wire pinched under a star washer behind one of the new lights (which shorted it to ground), I had the clunking sound too which is the internal breaker for the lights inside the switch. If...
Yeah the a3 trucks have aluminum tanks. They are on eBay even for 50-100 bucks but then you have shipping to deal with. Keep an eye out for an a3 being parted near you I guess
Thanks Juergen, I've definitely started cutting corners lately though just to get things done.... at least not making things quite a "tidy" or "pretty". Lots of zip ties, rather than cable clamps. Reusing old fasteners rather than replacing them, electrical tape rather than heat shrink, stuff...
not sure yet. I have mine hooked up to be on with the lights, so they don't flash. I replaced the 7 incandescent ones with the new led ones and now I have the problems:(
Finally got the brake project done. I did not enjoy it. Ended up overhauling the front axle as mentioned earlier (this was the worst part). Got all the new wheel cylinders and new brake shoes in everywhere including the larger 1.5" diameter front ones. I had to modify the link pins to get the...
I just hooked up some of the grote LED side clearance/Marker lights also and have a couple that arent working (3 out of 7). They will come on for about 5 seconds then turn off for several minutes before coming on again briefly..... both on the truck and when hooked up to a 24v bench test power...
Nuts... Have you checked your toe in at all and played with tire pressure? I've had people tell me of having wheel hop with both too high of psi or too much toe in... No idea if that will work in your case since it does sound like balance but these radial tires do handle different from the bias...
If you want to check and adjust the balance, I can send you my bearing plates that will bolt onto a spare hub (if you still have your other rear axle to take one from). Here is the balancer I made which ended up being similar to G's setup. I'd avoid putting any beads on the tire if you have...
That's a copper crush washer like what is also used on the banjo bolts of the wheel brake cylinders. You should replace them when they are removed but many people reuse them. Bring it into an auto parts store and they will find one in the back for you and probably charge $.50 each or so.
Glad you caught it when you did. Problems like that make troubleshooting a real pain because you pretty much rule out new parts as the problem (especially something as simple as an injector line).
Thanks for the info Brian, I'll add that to the top posts.... I agree that it's nice having a common location for all related items like brake part info.
About the springs, the ones with pigtailed ends act as cup expanders to help prevent the cup seals from leaking fluid out or air in, so...
I agree, or even if you use stainless you will probably break them too. Stainless galls really bad so when I use stainless bolts with stainless nuts I use anti-seize also just to help prevent the galling. I've put many stainless fasteners on my truck, sometimes I've needed to take them off...
I probably wasn't too clear on this sorry. The dual circuit A2 and A3 trucks have a master cylinder with different output volume ratios. The reservoirs aren't really split, they do have an internal baffle that goes up halfway but that is just incase one circuit fails so the other circuit will...
I think I would carry a fire extinguisher with always in one of the trucks since there is just so much stuff that can burn and put a battery disconnect right by the batteries so you can shut off all power at the source whenever you need (I've done this on my truck, they are cheap too). That...
