Welcome to the forum. Good to see another European CUCV owner on here. We seem to be growing in numbers. I see some Dutch, German and Belgian and now French too.
Got pictures of your truck?
The emission sticker says GEP on it. Might be a Optimizer 6500? Does it have the diamond in the valley? Sell the heads, turbo, transfercase and whatever you don't need. Use the money from that to get the proper heads and a GM8 turbo. Not sure if it's worth the hassle over a complete Optimizer...
If insurance would be involved, yes it would be at least be an economic total loss. I was playing in the snow on a secluded spot and must've hit a pothole. It threw me off course towards a streetlight. In a split second I had to choose to hit it with the front or the side. Guess in that split...
Came across a Dana 70 dually axle. Picking it up tomorrow or next sunday. I want the D70HD so I don't have to use spacers for HMMWV rims I want. Front axle will then need dually hubs as well, will probably buy those from Hillbilly Wizard. As I already had my mind set on rear disc brakes, I want...
The OEM you are looking at is probably not a GM8, probably a GM3 or 4?. One of the improvements of the GM8 should be a smoother elbow. I picked up a GM8 a little while back because I couldn't leave it for the price the guy was asking. Thinking of swapping it with the GM4 just until I get the...
On 6.5 trucks the lift pump gets power from the oil pressure switch. However they are known to fail frequently as they can't handle the current draw so most people add a relay to this system. Wiring diagrams can be found all over, like the diagram in the third post here (this one includes a...
From my understanding the lift pump on a 6.5 indeed allows flow when it's not working. A good IP should be able to draw fuel by itself although it (drastically) shortens its lifespan. It should get you home though.
I've contemplated installing 2 6.5 lift pumps stacked on top of each other...
I misread your post, thought you where going with an electric IP. I briefly talked to the guy doing Swfb's supercharger to ask if he had throttle cable brackets to clear the dual t-stat crossover and he mentioned an electric IP, fly by wire I guess or maybe he confused IP and LP as well? How did...
What injection pump is going to be on there? And how is it managed? Does it come with a stand alone computer, kinda like a transmission controller when doing a 4L80E swap?
I'll wait and see what Swfb has to offer. If yours are better I could have FedEx pick those up instead of new ones from SD Truck Springs.
My mates M1008 is missing the brackets that are just behind the engine mounts, maybe you have those as well? Pretty sure we'll find more things missing that...
Ordered paint and took the rear leaf spring packs apart too clean and paint them... 1 broken leaf on the left side and 3 on the right side. I guess it's time for new ones. Went on Rock Auto to get an idea of how much it would set me back. €1200 euros including shipping and import fees. Contacted...
There is a difference between N/A and turbo CDRs. In your case I think you'd need to find one for a turbo'd engine.
Member Swfb is having his engine supercharged. Maybe he can fill you in on how they are going to plumb his CDR. The guy who does it, does it for a living.
Got the frame back. Blasted, metal sprayed, epoxy primed and painted black. Bolting everything together using a lot of ceramic grease on the bolts and nylon insert lock nuts. Finally something is getting put back together instead of being torn apart.
Decided to use ORD front main, front...
They don't seem to be very common. I found a couple online, but to find them locally it took a couple calls to find a shop nearby that had them. The shop gave me 2 brands, same specifications. Car Go and Wehrle. I know Ripca makes them as well, pretty sure brands like Hella do to. They might be...
