Fluidampr is going on my Optimizer 6.5 for sure (and the 6.5 in the K1500 as well) eventually. Still have to limit my spending, having less work due to Covid.
My friend has only had this truck for a couple of weeks now, but I already spent close to €3000 of his savings on his truck :LOL...
Don't worry guys. I made heavy duty battery cables for my K1500 a while ago. I believe about 2 to 3 times stock size, 25mm² and 75mm² (4 AWG and 2/0 AWG). Using the same cables for the M1008.
I will try and get some pictures of the waterpump and balancer tomorrow. You can tell they rubbed by...
We decided to convert to 12V (sorry Rick). I don't think converting the CS130/140 alternators to isolated ground is very do-able. For now we'll install the setup as is, single alternator. Later on we might add the second one, either as an in-place spare or to charge it's own battery which will...
My friend's M1008 started to have a loud rattle. We pinpointed it to be coming from the harmonic balancer. It looked ok, but we decided to remove it and try the one from my old 6.2 (just to be able to run the truck until all parts for the serpentine swap are complete). Upon removing we noticed...
Found the part number in the TMs; 3815936. RockAuto comes up ACDELCO G1807 as a replacement. Says "Pressure limit closed 6 PSI" and "Pressure limit open 2 PSI". It lights up the idiot light at 6 and shuts it off when it drops below 2?
My K1500 shows pressure with a warmed up engine at idle at...
Hey guys,
Does anyone know at what pressure the idiot light goes on?
I'm preparing to add gauges to my friends M1008 including an oil pressure gauge. After a bit of Googling, I found that most use a T to keep the idiot light switch and add a sender, but VDO offers senders that also send a...
Sorry for brining up an old thread, but me and my buddy are thinking of doing the conversion on his 6.2. Does the harmonic balancer need to be swapped over?
Swfb and I decided to make our own high flow intake plenums for our turbo setups. I finished a prototype last night and installed it on the K1500 for testing. Throttle response seems to be a bit snappier and the turbo whistle is a bit more pronounced. Next one goes on my friends turbo'd M1008.
Drove my M1028 chassis to a different coater to inform what they could do for me. The last one screwed up, bad. I have more trust in this one. I left the chassis there and will be bringing them the rest of the stuff I removed like brackets, mounts, crossmembers, etc. The parts will of course be...
Installed a Diamond Eye exhaust and crossover on my K1500. It whistles now. Not as loud as the turbod 6.2 on my mates M1008 though. Maybe it's because he gets up to 14 PSI of boost and I have mine set to max 7 PSI? I think the 14 PSI on his is way too much, as far as we know he doesn't have ARP...
I decided to ditch the v-belts for my Navistar block and go serpentine. To do so, I made a template for a dual alternator bracket, digitized it and had it cut. Perfect fit. Cut from 10mm thick plate (about 3/8"). Bit much I think, but the belt clears it. Now I need to figure out how to make...
A $200 bracket for about $18. Template I made wasn't perfect, but close. I will be able to test fit it by Monday or Tuesday and finalize the design. Left a bit of meat around the 2 bolt holes where the alternator mounts, might have to grind some off.
Too be honest I haven't thought of that yet. Probably the 6.5 steering pump (with EVO bypass to make it work?).
As for the alternators, from what I've gathered it shouldn't be very difficult to convert them to isolated ground to make it work with the stock CUCV wiring.
AC pump to be replaced...
Good work! Wish you figured it out a couple of days earlier though...
Last week I decided to go serpentine on mine. I'm having a bracket made. I came across the same bracket you linked, way too expensive! Figured the easiest and cheapest way to acquire one was finding an old Chevy ambulance...
