Just make sure you get a universal gladhand. The new emergency gladhands(red color) have a pin that makes sure it will only connect to other emergency gladhands. The universal fits both the emergency side and the service side.
I drive both, and the series 60 detroit is a much quieter/smoother engine to work with. About the only thing I like about the modern cummins is that the oil dipstick is easier to check then the detroit.
Now I love the 250 in my 5 ton. While it has the powerband of about 100 rpm, it is night...
Carnac,
Try Travelers. They write for Gulfway, and are only 582.00 per year. If you wish, I can PM you my agent, as he is located in Georgia(Augusta) and knows how to do MV's after working on my M814.
I didn't have any problem with SC except for the fact that I won(purchased) the vehicle in August, that I paid NJ sales tax, and it was January, and here I am trying to get a title and tag.
Ended up paying the SC sales tax(OUCH) and a 75.00 late fee. The lady at the counter asked me about 10...
HMMM. I wanted a set of 5 chimes for the 814, but after reading about the 1 note blat horn, I know of 2 that came off ex army SW8's. So that would be a MV horn right?
Just like a southerner. Carry the 4 wheeler high and dry in the bed of the deuce.
Just wish I was there so I could play with the 814 in the wet........
I hear you. I am on my 34 hour reset, after 57.5 hours last week, and have to go back at 1930 Sunday night, with 36 hours of rest.
Anyhow, next time you are in the area, keep an eye out for 'ole triple 6.
The headache rack would have to be attached to the frame, between the cab and the bed. My 814 has about 3 inches between the cab wall and the bed. You could also attach yellow "anti collision" lights to the corners of the rack. That is also where the transfer case hangs off the frame, and the...
I would think a well designed headache rack would provide all the protection needed. Might add 300-500 lbs to the truck. Plus it would keep items in the bed from hitting the cab also.
The SC Hiway Patrol will be out in force. Watch out along I20 between MM 40 and 44. That is the #1 hunting spot on I 20. I will be on I 20 about the same time, heading to Winnsboro SC. Should you have problems, call me at 706-829-3166. Where are you meeting him at exit 55? There is a...
I have gotten 6.4 MPG in my stock 814, and I was trying REAL HARD. Feathering the throttle, short shifting, egg between my foot and the right pedal. Top speed? I have seen 57.3 MPH, going down Saluda Mtn in NC. The 814 likes 2000 RPM, and 49 to 51 MPH. I would think that you could get 4-5...
Having seen the inside of a left front wheel cyl on a M37 on the side of a road, I can see that regular checking of the wheel cyls is a must. I am also glad to see that I am not the only one that uses KROIL penetrating oil.
Bring the chicken to the Ga Rally, and we can set up a stage in the M814 with a pole for Elmo and the chicken to do the horizontal limbo......
