    Finally bought a MEP-831a

Found oil in intake near valve, the source is either the (oil start hole) or (valve steam oil seal). Ill reattempt breaking in tomorrow Ill replace valve cover gasket I have a replacement on hand, if this does not address issue its probably the stem seal.

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

I adjusted valve lashing to .13mm inspected push rods all were good. I checked the timing it was spot on 17 degrees. Fired it up seemed to act way better than before no smoke at all, I applied a 2600 watts of load it happily went along for about 6 mins then bogged out. I reduced load to 2400 and...

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

Perhaps my injection timing is incorrect it was set to 17 degrees before TDC. per TM 16 to 18. But the yanmar manual states 13-15. Is there a reason for the difference? Improper timing might explain the constant black smoke. Tomorrow morning ill adjust the valves and maybe timing depending of...

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

Just picked up head from machine shop, turns out there is nothing wrong with it. Holds a 7 at vacuum with no spring, they said lapping job looked really good. They mentioned that the valve lashing maybe incorrect or the tappet may not be seated correctly on cam shaft. The tappets looked good...

    MEP804A--Anyone have one of these?

There is a reason there in plastic resin. Keeps winding from vibrating and help keeps longevity too. Atleast this is what I've been told when it come to electric motors

    MEP804A--Anyone have one of these?

Unfortunately you can't with the 804b it has a 10 wire head. What you have for house power is 10 kw two legs, you can use left over leg for separate loads that are 120 volt. Almost all domestic appliances accept 120/208 configuration. Since you already have the set if it were me I would run...

Mep 004a and 005a "carrier bearing"

Take a look at MEP-005A TM9-6115-465-24P page 164 part 5. Searching NSN show some specifications for the part. I believe that every TM for gen sets has a corresponding parts TM defined by the (P) at the end.

Turns out leak is also on intake side as well, I relapped them and the leak is still present on both sides. I think I'm going to order a new head and valves and send them off to be lapped. The finest grinding lapping compound I can find locally is 280 grit is this fine enough?

    220v 1-phase HVAC unit reliability

Be sure if you buy one that it has refrigerant in it, every time that I have seen them they had the Freon removed. If it were me I would just buy a consumer unit, they usually have a warranty.

Might be able to test intake and exhaust by filling the ports up, just have to plug up oil hole on intake side. Would rubbing alcohol suffice?

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

I filled it up with oil, I couldn't source any John Deere Break in oil locally. I used Rotella T 10W-30 figure Ill use this since I had it on hand. I adjusted the valve last night, decided I would see if I had compression by turning fly wheel by hand. Turns out I messed up the valve job, there...

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

Made it pretty far on putting it back together. When I order the gasket set I didn't even think about the pre-heater, so were just going to do with out it. It rarely gets that cold here. Still need to do the valve adjustment yes I put the flywheel cover on. Should I redo the timing on the...
