Strongly considering selling 002a to put towards 802a at auction.. opinions ?

yes jerry, he still fires it up once a month and its runnin strong. only problem is since i bought my very first generator maybe 2 years ago now, the power hasnt gone out! before both me and my dad bought these things we would lose power atleast once a month. go figure..lol ill tell him you...

Strongly considering selling 002a to put towards 802a at auction.. opinions ?

no he has it in a shed. the muffler made quite a difference. the shed takes care of the engine noise itself. i dont think it would need anything as fancy as a shed. it could be as simple as some concrete blocks stacked around it just to block the sound

    MEP-003a Smoking

yup, you have a cylinder or two that are just a touch low on compression. as the engine warms up the the compression temp finally rises enough to fire off the fuel and it starts burning clean. its not an issue. only thing to do really is figure out which cylinders are not firing which you can do...

Strongly considering selling 002a to put towards 802a at auction.. opinions ?

my dad has an 002 and its enclosed. he bought some flex exhaust pipe and a muffler from napa then ran the exhaust out. with then enclosure and muffler you cant even hear the thing run. no different than a car running in the driveway. its almost strange quiet. just doesnt seem right lol.

    MEP 002/003 capacitor noise filtering

yes there is also one connected to the dc voltage regulator by the blower wheel. that one doesnt have to be there either and is actually broken on every generator i have seen. you can get rid of it. as far as noise on a ham radio i have no idea. the same facet fuel pump are used on aircraft and...

    MEP-003a won't crank

check the starter lockout switch. over by the oil filter. disconnect that at the connector plug and jump it with a small wire.

    MEP-003a Running Hot 400+ degrees

take a look at the cooling fins on the cylinders. many of these generators can rust pretty bad. i have seen the air passages between the fins completely clogged from flaking paint and rust. another thing i have seen is that these things can have a ton of paint on them. if the engine has been...

    MEP 003A: No Oil Pressure

yes definitely listen to these guys and check the gauge and pressure switch first. both the oil pump and the relief valve are a real pia. the relief valve is behind the flywheel so you need to pull the gen off the motor.

    MEP-002A hz dropping under load

sounds like the gov is doing all it can to compensate for a weak engine due to........... my 003 would start puffing black at 80% and shut down at 90%. once the injectors were done i can max the gauge at 133 with no smoke.

    MEP-002A hz dropping under load

toypar just send a msg to storeman and he can let you know a price. i dont know what he currently charges. he was always really reasonable with it and a quick turnaround. for the gov setting i remember reading the manual and it was a little confusing on which way to move the star wheel to...

    MEP-002A hz dropping under load

Even 200 psi is significant. 1000 off or even set to 1000 is extremely low. Mine varied from 1200 to 2200. They are supposed to be 1750 if i remember right.

    MEP-002A hz dropping under load

just as a note, out of 4 generators that i rebuilt last year, thats 12 injectors total.....i had every one gone through by storeman and there wasnt a single one that was in spec. they were all out. even if they are clean you cant expect a spring that has been compressed for 30 years to still be...

    MEP-002A hz dropping under load

as isaac said, first thing is to check the linkage. some other things that could cause this is old fuel, injectors needing a tune up and low compression.

    Mep 002a & 003a alternator bearing

if its actually the main generator rotor bearing your talking about, that big one thats about 2.5" dia or so. i have never seen one of those go bad and are rated for like 100,000hours of use. bearings are usually standardized and i would imagine that the bearing is marked with what it actually...

    Zwick compressor and engine oil?

well on the compressor side, nearly all piston compressors run 30w non detergent. you can get it right from napa. i dont know about the engine side. you dont want a regular detergent type oil in a compressor. the detergents keep particles and moisture suspended in the oil real well so a filter...
