Awesome luck! But actually it was not all luck since the guy saw what you were up to and sought you out.
I really like the look of those cabs. They look better to my eye than the deuce does.
Well done and thanks for posting. I wish you the best with your new truck!

jimmyb,
I don't have a specific way to assist, other than to say you will likely preserve precious capital by purchasing and shipping from the west coast ports of the US. Transporting overland can be your largest relocation expense.
Have you explored the methods and costs of shipping? Will...
Congrats on the winning bid and best wishes with the GL experience. I hope your truck is everything you hope it to be. Someday I'll graduate from the A2 to the A3. Until then I'll be satisfied you are enjoying yours!!!

I went looking for these photos using Google because they remind me of why I value these old, archaic trucks.
The photos are art in that they capture and convey many things beyond the parts lying in wait: war industrialization, mass production, economies of scale and so on.
Thanks to Brian...
All I did was to place a hi-lift jack between the winch brackets forward of the winch to slightly spread the frame. No need to loosen, hammer of force anything. I used anti seize on the shouldered bolts.
Rick
TiredIron,
Would you happen to use your username on another forum? I recall someone with your username fitting Volvo C303 MV portal axles under a Toyota Landcruiser.
Rick
It's a steel shaft. I recall that the shaft drops into blind holes on the outer side of the drum. If my recollection is correct, I second the observation that it will be necessary to split the winch.
All in all it is not too difficult to work on a winch. Corrosion and heft are your only...
I have not played with an A3 yet, but from photos it appears that the A3 has a redesigned front clip to accommodate a wider and taller radiator. Look carefully and you will see that the headlights were pushed out onto the fenders.
I have no idea on how you will succeed in fitting an A2 front...
I concur. With my other diesel interests, most discussions are about doing more with less. For example replacing a slow turning, 4 liter, normally aspirated 6 cylinder inline long stroke motor with a direct injected, turbo charged 4 cylinder 2 liter motor and gaining power and torque in the...
Buck,
I had a starter button fail, it failed kinda like you are describing: Stuck in contact mode. Low voltage can cause a welding of the contacts in both the starter and push button switch.
Maybe you can pull out the switch and attempt a contact cleaning??
Rick
I agree with goldeneagle, because of the symptoms you describe, I would look carefully for any restrictions or possible air leaks in the fuel delivery.
Welcome to this forum and let us know what you find when the problem is solved.
