Not true....
After what I thought was an unjust citation from a CHP officer, I obtained a copy of the California Vehicle Code and looked up the infraction the officer cited me for.
Sure enough, the officer had pulled the infraction out of his a$$. There was nothing in the code that covered...
Boy, I dunno. If he's having to beat on the starter to get it turning, he may have a failing starter that has now shorted and is flowing battery current through the cables and starter to ground.
If that's the case, he will be changing a lot of cables, switches and solenoids until he measures...
This thread you made is currently on the first page: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/43715-anyone-wanting-more-speed-your-deuce.html
It's about 5:41 gear sets however.

I agree, If I was purchasing a truck for myself,i'd go for a dump truck with winch.
My guestimate for a solid working truck is $4-6k. You will see them for a little less and a lot more, but to get one that is work ready, that should be your budget.
Rick
Go Hot, have you considered having an analysis done of an oil sample from the engine?
You may find it more informative and way cheaper to have the analysis done than to dis-assemble the motor for a visual.
My driving in a deuce thus far is along the I 95 corridor from actionfigurebob's farm...
X2 for bicycle inner tube. I cut mine twice as long as the chain, so the tube bunches up all along the chain. It looks better and stiffens the chain so it does not swing as much.
The inner tube rubber is only good for about 1 year in the sun down here. But there's a bicycle store down the road...
Ken, check on the dash, down low just forward of the tranny shift lever for an air switch to operate the transfer case.
Your buddy's truck may have the easy shifting 6x6 feature installed on many of these trucks.

ClarkeF,
Great choice, I am glad to hear you rolled the dice and won. What a great feeling, huh?
100dollarman,
Thank you for offering a "safehouse" for us fellow members. Your graciousness and generosity is appreciated and an inspiration.
Carry on!

That trip has been done by others, even recently. With all the border drama going on these days, I'm not interested in the challenge.
I drove a M35 from MD to Port Everglades, about 1100 miles. I enjoyed the challenge and adventure, and am willing for that to be my marathon voyage experience...
Anyone available to check out a few of the trucks being auctioned off at Warner Robins, GA on the 30th?
I am willing to pay a reasonable fee to obtain the important information I need for bidding.
Also, I am seeking recovery resources , human and otherwise, as I am not in the area.
Please...

I second the notion to be in motion. Being pro-active with GL is the only way to get-er-done. Squeaky wheel, and all that.....
Use the "Chat" feature to confirm Battle Creak is in possession of the EUC application, then ask GL to do a tracer on the application.
Remember this: Nobody cares but...
Hi Scott,
Bringing your wonder and frustration about GL practices to SS is like bringing sand to the beach! 8-)
GL is inflexible with their rules and spare with supplying any reasoning. They (GL) are the best example I know of where the company is practicing a "take it or leave it"...
I dunno about the esthetics on this idea. I think the rear glass slope and general side view symetry would be harsh on the eyes.
Anybody have photoshop and the time willing to play with this idea?
Shadrach,
That sir looks like a very usefull mod. It looks like a great father/son project!
I see you placed the hinges at the very rear. does the bed clear the bumperettes or did you remove them? Also, what confirmed weight have you managed to haul and dump using the system?
Oh, one more...
If I read your post correctly you said you manipulated the vent with your fingers and air escaped, or drew in. That being the case you may want to remove and clean the vent to make sure it is ventilating properly.
Rick
There was once a great thread about a wiring diagram made by a fellow SS member. Ah, here it is: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/3843-peter-bogs-cad-deuce-schematic-2.htm
(insert sarcastic remark about using search here):deadhorse:
Post #18 has the diagrams in a downloadable format.
