Good idea with cutting the wrench. I bought one for my unit off ebay and when I used it I thought to myself.. Hmm.. Really? It does the job but at 1/10 a turn at the time. I may shorten it like you did.
You put a wrench on the crank pulley and it wont turn?
I would not try to start it with the starter until you know whats keeping it from turning freely.
I found a NOS one on ebay a few months ago. I still have the old one that worked fine as it turns out if you are unable to source one elsewhere.
EDIT...
Looks like the seller has more. It was NOS unopened...
You probably want to look at getting a section of flex pipe that is made to go onto the exhaust of a generator and that attaches to the rigid pipe that should be supported by itself that way you are not putting stress on the generator exhaust or the pipe.
Thanks for the link on the power alarm. I thought about wiring in some type of buzzer alarm to know when utility returns but this is much easier being that I would not need to tap the utility voltage. I do have a smart meter and I can go out and look at the meter to see if it is back on or not...
Not trying to be the electrical safety nanny here but anyone reading this should realize that it can be very dangerous to do this. The amount of electrical energy available at the meter socket is immense any if there is any fault protection for your meter feed it is not going to save your life...
No, you only really would be leaving that bar In place when you use the generator free standing... Not hooked into your house.. And in that instance you would drive a ground rod for the set. When it is hooked to the house you should be using a 4 wire hookup and not have it grounded at the...
That speaker wire may hold up to heat fine but I would be concerned about the dielectric properties of the insulation on it. I mean yeah, it is probably fine but personally I would feel more comfortable with something like 1000v MTW in there if it was my set.
Nice setup. And nice touch painting those barrels tan to match! Wish I had that much fuel storage but I would be afraid it would not rotate often enough. Even with my CUCV that only gets 10MPG. I should probably try out my "super siphon" I got for Christmas and suck a few gallons out of the day...
It did but the handle was gone making it quite difficult to crank. And I chopped most of the jacking mechanism off to add the wheel so now it does not have any height to raise up anymore.
Indeed it is. The plate I bolted the tank to seems to have no issues with the weight and I had reinforced the bolts holding it down with new hardware and large washers both sides all grade 8.
The only issue that arose from putting that tank there is that lifting the toungue by hand is now...
Looks good...
I don't know if you did this or not but just a quick tip for anyone else who wants to build something similar, Don't worry about the height of the posts. Cut them long then once they are all cemented in place and dried, cut the first one at the height you want then use a level and...
I agree, filling the radiator is a real pain with the location of the opening. I jacked mine up as high as I could on the one side so it would be easier to pour the liquids in and then used a funnel... The whole time thinking.. really guys? who thought this was a good idea!?!
I had a similar problem. Intermittent temp gauge. I had first tested the gauge and it worked fine so I got a new sender. Installed that and it still did not work. Finally I figured out my temp gauge tends to deflect to the left when its cold and then the needle gets stuck all the way to the left...
My sister and parents are in Eugene/Veneta area hope they still have power. Got to use my 803 last Sunday for the first time for an actual outage for a little over an hour. Heard a few other people fire up some little portables but I rolled that beast out and got it hooked up. Cranked over that...
Here is the radiator cap for that unit..
Stant 10228 Radiator Cap - 7 PSI
I had to order off amazon. My local parts store did not have anything like that.
Lets not forget.. The gauge may be broken. If you do not have one already I would suggest picking up a halfway decent multimeter to be able to troubleshoot and verify the operating conditions of the unit.
You want to be able to verify that the unit is putting out 60Hz and whatever voltage you...
