You don't "need" 240v in the box unless you are running 240v accessories back there. I have 120v run back there with all the original wiring in place. Unless you have modified something back there, or there was a special setup, everything in the back runs on regular 120v. Not sure you will have...

We had a hiab crane on a deuce. Was nice having the controls on the ground, but even then you needed a second person. For as anyone who has used a crane knows that the second you let it go it starts to spin in the opposite direction. It did have a control box for using a wired/wireless...

Great site, but like most forums, 1/2-3/4 of them are likely non active members (do not log in or have ever posted). I admin another forum online and we use to have a few thousand members. We decided to check to see how many actually visit the site. Found half had signed in once, looked around...

Was just on their website looking around and they state that for the metal plates, they are not really made for outdoor use, yet are "scratch, heat and chemical resistant". Does your plate look like it would stand up to the elements anyway?

Awesome. I have been looking for someone like this for a while. I have data plates from Canadian trucks that need replacing, but it is pretty much impossible to find them anywhere. Price sounds really great for what you get. Looks like another place I am going to send big money ;)

Once you figure out the controls on the truck, I found that on ebay there are a ton of cheap wireless crane controllers for sale with the wireless transmitters (~$200-$500). You can even choose the voltage that they run on (12v/24v/etc). Can't post a link to the auctions due to site rules...

Never done it myself. And I am pretty sure that the add on systems are very expensive for the average joe. I have to admit that I am in the same boat. Love to use the M816, but it is pain in the ass, as well as the joints, getting on/off the truck. Especially when you just need to move it 1/2...

That was no little accident for sure. I don't think a new bumper and coat of paint would have fixed it sadly. I am sure you were not happy to hear about the old girl being totaled, but at least no one was seriously hurt. I have loved the M1031's ever since I first saw one. Just great trucks...

The chevy M1031 CMT uses the same style box as the old M880 CMT's. Pretty much the same thing. You did a great job mounting it on that trailer frame. Looks stock. If you don't want to haul it all the way back home, you can leave it in Canada. I would be more than happy to get rid of it for you...

I like the CMP. Even if the steering is on the wrong side :wink:

Very good idea. I have seen more than a couple of those for sale for cheap. Most people just want them out. It would give you a bed, storage, small kitchen (with a fridge to store food which is important when you can get cheap bulk deals on stuff). Some units even come with a mini toilet/shower...

Putting on a civilian axle should have been the first move by the builder. It saves a good amount of weight. Won't be a massive difference, but it will help. Plus you can then match the hubs with the truck so that one tire fits all. I did it to mine. The new axle is half the weight and it is...

You can only stick a tank in the back. Further up you risk hitting the tank when the diffs move up and down. If you try to put a tank up behind the cab between the rails, you will have to move the air tanks to a new location. I had originally mounted a tank between the frame rails in the middle...
