You may be referring to the sometimes confusing ISO grades typically used in hydraulic oils vs SAE weights. But ISO numbers are higher than SAE, so not sure where your mechanic got SAE 40 is the same as SAE 80/90…

They make a braided stainless line for the air compressor outlet. Believe it or not they are still some type of plastic on the inside. They handle the flex and vibration much better than coper.
Coper lines tend to brake at the flare or ferrule and no real good way of predicting or inspecting...

Keep the adaptation as short as possible to help prevent walking. If your press has a morse taper, pop your chuck out and use a weldon shank to morse taper adapter.
