Any word on how White Owl Parts is fairing? They're near the Neuse river in Kinston NC, and I read water levels are still cresting.

The engine should be cranked over, before each start, to check for hydro-static lock -- that is fuel or water in a cylinder from a leaking injector or head gasket. If one of the cylinders is filled with fluid while the others fire, you'll destroy the engine.
If you get a "thud" noise while...
Great points, I've read a lot of tractor forum threads that say you can run larger generators at lower KW output with undersized HP.
The general rule is you need 2 HP for every Kilowatt you're trying to produce. Example: a tractor with 30 HP at the PTO matches up nicely to a 15KW generator...
My Yanmar LX manual doesn't mention a low oil pressure kill, just the warning light, its a 2012 Tier 3 engine model.
There's a lot of poorly maintained tractors out there, so I'm going to believe failures do happen. However, I would believe for anyone who takes cares of their equipment like...
1 gal per hour is respectable for a 15KW generator.
I do not need to run it full time, just to run the well pump, oil boiler, cook meals, wash and dry clothes, etc. The fridge I kept cold 24/7 by using solar panels on the M109 by day and a 2000 watt gas inverter generator at night. Actual...
I think I have some of those same solar panels attached to the roof of my M109, I can vouch that they're good for 50mph. LOL!
I found more info about that camera that might of some interest:

About a gallon per hour at PTO speed @2500 RPM. Note, this is not a long stroke diesel, the bore/stroke ratio is close to 1:1. 88mm bore, 90mm stroke. Yanmar diesel reliability is pretty darn good, you guys aren't scaring me.
I don't have a mil generator, I have a 15KW PTO generator running off a 45hp Yanmar tractor. The fuel fill is about neck level which made lifting jerry cans a bit cumbersome.
I'm filling up my 55 gal diesel drum today. Lifting 5 gallon cans got old when I lost power for 5 days after a fierce windstorm in the northeast last fall. I added the drum and a pump after that outage. Each major storm teaches me to get a little better about preparedness.
There is a 110V to 24V Transformer in the back of M109s. That is what I'm calling the power converter. It powers the 24V exhaust fan on AC power.

I was in second gear and probably going 5mph, it stopped pretty quickly at that speed. The gearing was doing most of the slowing, I'm glad it wasn't a sudden stop or going down a hill.
I've been driving deuces occasionally for 8 years, this was the first time I've had a hard brake pedal, and...
Hi. I found another related document:
Excerpt from: ARSENAL FOR THE BRAVE, A HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY MATERIAL COMMAND 1962-1968
"The Army's experience with LD465 and LDS465 multifuel series engines was not altogether satisfactory. These were Government designed, standard automotive...
Big Mikes is a good source.
I encountered a hard brake pedal a week ago as I was slowing down to an intersection, the parking brake stopped the truck. I now have that master cylinder apart and am awaiting a rebuild kit from Big Mike's.
I think that power converter is a modification, I've never heard of one under the passenger seat. I don't think you'll find any info about it and will need to trace the wiring.
The only power converter I'm aware of in a stock M109A3 is the one mounted to the wall inside the box.
