Best way for me to buy a deuce?

I think all of the members here want you to get your Deuce and also have a great experience. Don't get the fever so bad that you overlook the long term costs of owning and maintaining one. These trucks are old and will require ongoing expenditures to keep them rolling. Just make sure you won't...

    magnaflow on a deuce

The cheapest route is hearing protection. Lots of memebers have experimented with mufflers, rerouting the exhaust to rear(original location), sound deadening ETC. I think I'm keeping it simple and cheap. Appreciate the info.

    insurance in louisiana??

My State Farm agent would only write as a commercial policy. I'm about ready to get it on the road and will check again. I think the pictures scared them. I will put only few miles a year on mine.

Better to wait, or just go for it

Glad you got started in the sickness. Now go find a winch model to pull it out. That's my plan anyway. Whats up with the reflections on the passenger side windshield, is it plastic?

Right and wrong way to start a deuce

Some of us have had to modify our starting procedure a little. These trucks are old and some will start better than others. A compression ignition diesel needs all of the pressure to make the heat required to start and a fine mist from mist from...

    Max Deuce Speed

Like doghead said, they were supposed to run 45. When I was young we passed the convoys all the time and they were doing 45. A friend of mine says he got his way past that. The limit's set were conservative for a reason, longevity. My friend may learn the hard way. My dash panels say top speed...

    4A084 engine info?

Mine was the points. I don't remember having to remove much to get the magneto out though. I'll try to find some pic's and stuff and PM you. I remember asking for help when I was having a problem. If I can find the thread, I'll copy it here.

    Dot3,4,5, why

DOT 3 or 4 are good for daily drivers, like you take to work. DOT 5 is preferred in a vehicle that is that is not used enough to boil the moisture out on a regular basis. I didn't follow DH's link, but sure it goes in to more detail.

    Deuce add ons

There is a way, its a keyed handle that you lock from the outside. I think it can be found once the old site is up. It was a garage door or old RV door handle that was used. The one I remember from the th original thread looked just like the original except for the keyed part.
