I know it is short notice, but I believe this was just recently organized.
"Fi-Fi" and a P-51 escort will be flying in to the Southern Illinois Airport at Carbondale Il today around 1600 hours.
I will be leaving work early today...
I was not able to save one of the factory M46 based dragline trucks like that one.
While out for a family drive one day, we stumbled across one next to the road with a "For Sale" sign on it.
As I was looking it over, a truck pulled up and three locals jumped out. After some friendly...
I've fab'ed three sets of bolt-on deuce roller fairleads for folks.
Always thought about making a few more and posting them up for sale, just never got around to it.
Yes, it was an M60 that got cut for it's axles. Some local hayseeds built a "mud rig" from the frame rails, axles, and transfer case.
All that was left of the rest of it was the smashed REO engine and enough of the bed to see the raised sides and crane section. Cab was smashed with the data...
Welcome to the V17A, MTQ club. They are few and far in-between. A few were sold on our favorite "gov surplus site" last year, and several more reside in Jack's yard as mentioned by Jim.

Mine tends to be quite cold natured, even with warm ambient temps (i.e. requires use of pre-warmer).
Lots of fuel smoke and no start if I don't first use the pre-warm step.
I was very pleased to see the number of people that showed up wearing their uniforms and even t-shirts from their respective branch of service. Veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam were showing up with their families and sharing stories with children and grandchildren while looking at the...
The weather was great Friday and Saturday, with Saturday being the best day as far as the amount of vehicles and such. The coming rain sent some of the reenactors and vehicle owners home late Saturday evening.
If it had not been for the help and friendship of Gary (lstmate) and Tammy, the ship would have never stopped here. Garry was instrumental in my introduction to the Captain several years ago, which eventually lead to the LST 325 coming to Chester.
We had over 7600 people visit the ship over the weekend with even more showing up to the riverfront to experience the Camp and the HMV display.
Over 1500 students came on Friday alone. The local Catholic Grade School brought posters they had made depicting the history of the LST 325 and all LST's.
