Dayton Quaker Steak and Lube Events (2013)

We used to have a very active QS&L here on Columbus, now they pretty much have bike night weekly and thats about it. I wish they'd bring back truck night.

Findlay 2013 Armed Forces Day Event

I'd like to go though my daughter has a dance recital on that Saturday. Maybe I'll make it up on Sunday or is it pretty much over by then?

What is this fuel tank from?

They work out to nearly the same volume, but otherwise I have no clue.

Before you make the long haul! Check your tank and hangers!!!

I had the tank straps break and drop the fuel tank on a GMC truck once. That was a pretty bad day, but a great story.

    alternator burning

While we're talking about alternators I have a problem with mine as well. It can't be charging or charging enough and I'd like to try to fix the alternator myself. System reads < 24v when everythings off, once I start the truck I get more than 24 volts, 25 max. Its the 60A style with the...

Ah, thats to easy and I'm real stubborn

    M105 landing gear seized

I've had an M105A2 for awhile and now that I've got some time to spare, I'm working on restoring it. It has the single large wheel on the landing gear, folds up fine, but is seized in the "centered" position. I guess it could be worse, ie seized to the left/right;-) Is there any really good...

    deuce swift water crossing stats.

My dad served in the west virginia national guard and did a lot of work in flash flood damaged areas. Sounds like they went through a lot of tires.

    M35a2 vs m923

Exactly my reasoning for getting a duece vs a 5 ton. I'm not sure how Ohio handles historic commercial sized vehicles, but going the non comm private route you still register a truck by weight and with the air brakes you need the air brake endorsement. It all adds up to a good bit of money...

    Right MV for me?

There a lot of more modern, capable, safer, and comfortable trucks to use daily in hauling trailers. Now if your just going to commute in it and haul some stuff from home depot a few times per year then I'd go for it, but again I'd drive a nice small corolla or something and "play" with the duece.

    no title for m35a2

Ohio does have cool laws regarding vehicle titling.

What stalled it? It seemed like it was doing fine and then fell flat on its face.

    Marengo Show buy/sell/trade

The SR 61 North bound lane is open, you CANNOT return south over the interstate at this time. This makes I-71 NORTH inaccessable from the camp ground but does not effect getting to the camp ground from either direction or getting back on I-71 SOUTH. Not really a big deal, just have to take SR...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Moved a huge tree out of my neighbors yard, it was large enough that I could only take off in 1st/low to get the idea. I probably could have burned a lot of clutch in 2nd gear, but didn't see any good reason to do that. Then I made a glad hand - air coupler quick connector that I've been...

    Marengo Show buy/sell/trade

I'm like 3 miles from it so I'll be there even if I have to push my truck there :driver:

    M35A2 As a working Truck

Sure you could get dual circuit brakes, the easiest way is to buy the M35A2C model, "they had split brakes." Anti-lock is one of those, impossible things without unlimited funds and a design team. it would be better to just get a modern truck.

    M35A2 As a working Truck

I don't know about slow to stop, mine stops as good or better than my `05 tacoma and `99 grand cherokee. No anti lock system getting in the way so it will make you kiss the windshield in a hurry, but I still drive it like I'm fully loaded. Only other thing I can think of is making sure you can...

    Preping your deuce for paint

I just took my cab top and rear section down to bare metal to clean up some rust that was about to ruin them. I used abrasive discs and it took probably 10-15 hrs to remove all the paint, but it was perfect and shiny when I was done. Then I put down 4 layers of primer and 3 coats of paint and...

    M35A2 As a working Truck

Its a really old vehicle so it has most of the pros/cons of anything in that age group. Simple stuff that just works, easy to work on when it doesn't The bad, parts aren't just around the corner and will need researched then shipped, its big, slow, and hard to maneuver even compared to more...
