    Frame number M1009

Ahhh..well its a 106.5" wheelbase. Not sure what those numbers on your chart mean.

    Frame number M1009

Do you mean the frame part number? In the TM 34P it gives #15589794 for the M1009. In an 84 Chevy Blazer parts catalog it shows #15636362.

    New Starter melting back post

Check that nosecone out, if it's a later design it will say "no shim" right on the casting.

    M1009 starting problems

Not necessarily. I use a test light. Quick test, works like a charm, been doing it like this for 12 years. Pull wires from Glow plugs, hook test light to 12v+, touch test light probe to glow plug spades. If it lights, its good. If not, its dead, needs replacing.

    Longer speedometer cable

I take mine off and then put it back on like this every year to lube the cable, pretty easy actually. Lie down on the floor, its quite accessible. Its really simple to snap it in, some find it hard to remove with one hand as you have to push the tab to release the cable. It is easier with 2...

    Questions before I order a rebuilt TH400

I understood the military left out the support rods because it would add another couple of shekels to the contract price for each truck. Easier to get the motor pool to replace the odd tranny if it cracks. When I got my M1009, guy told me I had to have these or the torque from the diesel could...

    GP controller bypass mod performed

I have a manual GP push button set-up. One summer, I noticed it was no longer just firing at the turn of the key when parked for short periods of time. Had to engage glow plugs. Come Fall, the answer was apparent, no heat in cab. Thermostat had failed and engine was always running cool.

    Fuel Line and Steering Rack

Your fuel line issue is probably a leaking fuel pressure sensor on the back of the filter base. You might be able to notice it, run your finger along the bottom of the filter base. see if its wet. I replaced mine with a new base that omits this sensor, no one uses it. When you park for the day...

New M1009 - slow to start when cold issue

    Cucv oil cooler mount

Sorry about the pic quality, cant get a very good shot with the grille in place. Basically, the drivers side top is a flat piece of stainless stock I cut to length and drilled 2 holes on. It attaches to the top corner of cooler and the inside of rad support. The passenger side of cooler has a...

Need some help with Glow Plug components

Solenoid..you mean the glow plug relay. Its the silver canister with all the wires going to it, on the drivers side firewall, between the 12 junction block and power steering booster. There's complete testing instructions in the TM's.

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

Its an electrical signal, carried by the pink wire to the IP solenoid under the pump cover. Yours sounds like its sticking or defective.

M1009 wont start, different than the others, I think

If you have an original direct drive 27MT, get it rebuilt. Lots of problems with the Chinese starters for sale out there. I get 6 years between rebuilds on my daily driver. Commutator end bushing wears the most, allowing the armature shaft to droop, causing slower cranking. That's how I know...

M1009 wont start, different than the others, I think

Sure sounds like low batteries, If not, I'd suspect the starter solenoid or the starter relay under the dash.

M1008 CUCV Fuel Leak and drip at bell housing

Yes, I had a rubber fuel line from the fuel filter start to leak, it developed a small crack at the end where it attaches to a metal line right over the rear passenger head. Replaced line.. fixed.

Sound proofing, is it worth the money and time?

Mine is only attached to the air cleaner with a hose clamp, hangs there fairly rigid, also have a zap strap at the front around the intake nozzle that wraps around the front battery tray, to keep it from vibrating around. Never had any kind of clamp but these pictures show a few..

Sound proofing, is it worth the money and time?

These trucks are not made or designed for a decent sound system" and "the sound quality is poor from a good radio while driving at highway speed." I disagree. My system sounds great regardless of speed. If I wanted to, I could turn it up so loud you could hear it coming a block away, the...
