Great spot to be in! What I would ask myself is how prepared am I to run this for an extended duration? Do you have all necessary consumption parts (oil filters, oil, air filters, glow plugs, etc) to run X amount of hours (this figure is only determined by your needs)? Do you have any spare...
Well I feel pretty dumb... the alternate unit seems to be dimensionally equal to the first unit I bought... only its the cross drilled hole (for the cable) that is smaller. The OE cable had a little metal slug welded/soldered into position on the cable.... any other thoughts? I really dont want...
Welp... tried to finally install the cable (has to be shortened by about 6' if I haven't said this already)... the cable stops above dont fit into the governor control. I just got a pair of 1/16" from the same company on order. Hoping the OD is smaller, so they fit (even if I might have to drill...
Edit: There is an AMMPS over at that big E auction site if you look for MEP-1050. I always forget they get their knickers in a twist when you link to them.
Great shot... thanks for this. My 803A has what I believe to be a stuck or an otherwise incorrect fuel reading. Good to see the inside as I DO have Moutain Man Dean forearms. I can at least approximate what the linkage is doing now based off of it. Thank you.
You should also consider putting a rain cap on the top of the pipe (example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017LXW7E/ref=s9_dcacsd_dcoop_bw_c_x_1_w) but sized for the appropriate stock you use (I didnt check the sizing on that link... it was for illustration purposes only).
I would say it depends on clearances (like a wood stove chimney). You will definitely need to fab up a pass through box (or find something for a pellet stove and adapt it) so you are far enough away from combustible materials. YMMV
You can use regular black iron pipe for this (its an NPT fitting). I forget if its 1" or 1.25" off the top of my head, but you just need a BI coupler and whatever length you want to extend the stack by.
Rent (or borrow?) a trailer with a rear gate. Take a heavy chain and make a big loop through 2 of the 4 tie down rings... hook that to your vehicles hitch (or ATV hitch or other) and just slide/pull them off the trailer. The aluminum skids they are on will more than take it... Good luck.

"We have manufactured over 19,000 30 kW and 60 kW Tactical Quiet Generator Sets (TQGS) for the U.S. Army. Nice little bit of business there!
Its a part made by L3... not shocked at the sticker price (I sell products to L3 across the world to aid in the production of these screens, and hundreds of other products).
This is power backup, and not main power right? You should be able to use a 10kw in any sort of emergency situation, and you might be temporarily inconvenienced by having to either load manage, or turn off heat while you do laundry or something. Probably your best scenario for both cost and...
I am going to be lifting this idea for my own build, but doing it slightly differently.
For those interested, you can source 5/16" female terminal connectors (to match the male prongs on the heating elements) here...
I bought one of those Reliance units on Amazon a few months back... any day now I'll install it. Got my father-in-law one as well (I refurbed an 803A for him) and he has already put his in, and said it works perfectly.
