I swapped the 2 1/2" shackle flip and 2" Skyjacker springs in today. I shot these pics after I finished one side . . . you can see the difference in the angle (it improved the pinion andle 3 degrees).
I'm chasing a wheel problem. One of my rear wheels appears to be bent and causing a pretty bad shake so I ordered a brand new wheel from Trail Worthy Fab. Hopefully it will be here by the weekend so I can swap it.
I've also decided that the stock rear springs are just too stiff. I ordered a...
It's been a while since I've posted but I have been making a little progress. I tore all the wheels down and added 10 oz. of Dynabeads to each wheel. I also put some new locking nuts on the 12-bolts. The LoMax 205 is completely reassembled and ready to install. Not sure when I'll have a chance...
I ended up buying some of the pilot washers for the wheels. I broke down the two rear wheels last weekend to install them, and ended up swapping the inner wheel on one (it was too out-of-round). I'm hoping to get the pilot washers installed on the front wheels this weekend.
I also dropped off...
Cut-off wheel. I have some pics of when I did mine on my build thread, page 8 . . . http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/71603-m1031-5-lift-12-bolt-h1s-no-spacers-build-8.html
I checked the runout on the two worst wheels. One was 110 thousands out and the other 120. I'm thinking this is more a case of bent wheels than misalighment . . . ?
So I took the "new" set of 37's to have them balanced. Two balanced out pretty well and two didn't. In fact, one is unuseable. The run-out is so bad it beats you death.
I noticed on this set of wheels that they have a matching hole in the inner and outer ring. My old set didnt have this. On...
My front driveshaft was in good shape but I wanted to replace the stock 1310 slip yoke with a 1350. I included a shot of the old yoke next to the new one. I didn't have to lengthen the tube and I didn't have it balanced either.
I finished mounting the last two tires today . . . stretched the o-ring, placed it in the "channel" and then mounted the outer ring. After torquing 48 bolts over and over and over again I had a blister to show for my work.
4" springs and a Zero Rate. I'm guessing the stockers were 2" and these are 4 1/2", so that gives me 2 1/2" more inches (with the lift). I'd be surprised if I ever hit them but they're there just in case.
