Modifying Airpack Plumbing to Lock Brakes or be Towed.

There is a subtile suggestion in these links that locking brakes based on air pressure is unsafe. I find your proposal interesting and notice that the military went for hydraulic line locks instead. Just for discussion, I was also wondering what specific problem this setup would solve on a...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Shhhhh! Never say that out alout where your truck can hear you! They are tricky beasts!

MV Parts store fuel filter kit install/review

Inquiring minds want to know...how do you get your truck up there? Long ramps? Looks like a great place to work on the underside! I seem to prefer pushing gravel down my collar every time I move under my truck and losing small fasteners between the rocks. Much more fun.

    Got another Deuce! ('70)

I own two armored vehicle dual headlights with base. I have located ONE. For the life of me, I cannot find the other. They were together, last time I saw, before the winter. Why are the not, now? And how difficult is it to misplace a thing of this weight and size? Maybe it's in my sock drawer.

    EGT performance

Yes, there is a governor. My LDS was set by the motor pool to a governed 2500 rpm similar to the LDT instead of the 2800 the LDS allows. I am totally fine with that and left it. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

    EGT performance

You did not say but I assume your EGT probe is pre-turbo. If so, the temps you list are in line with what I am seeing (but I am only at 250ft or so of elevation) with an LDS. Mine would boost well beyond 15 psi if I let it (I do not) and running empty on a flat stretch I see around 600-800F at...

    M35A2 Transmission Fluid Change

I ran 80/90 gear oil in my transmission. That worked fine and I agree with other posters that in a warmer climate it is probably all you need. Where I am, even the margins of the winter (spring and fall) are cold enough to make initial shifting a very stiff affair. After my OD mod I now run 40w...

    PTO Horsepower Rating?

According to TM 9-2520-246-34 the Deuce pto puts out 27 hp at 1000rpm. If I had to install a drag winch and could choose between going hydraulic or PTO, I'd take hydraulic in a heartbeat. Straightforward flexible plumbing and much safer, accurate control. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

    m35a3 air assist steering.

URSATDX, can you elaborate? I have the Waterloo setup on my truck and the steering box (a metric GM Saginaw 710) is just like any other steering box in that it allows steering without hydraulic support. There is still a mechanical connection between the steering shaft and the steering linkage. A...

    Deuce box seat

Yup, that cab was designed for undernourished 18 year old conscripts. Have you considered the smaller A3 steering wheel and making sure your steering column bracket is mounted all the way up? It is also possible to shorten the steering shaft. Also, an air ride seat base from a scrapped truck...

5 ton clutch disc in m35a2

Hint #1: 5 ton and 2.5 ton clutches have different NSN numbers. The military is efficient that way - same part means usually same NSN number. Hint # 2: The 5 ton clutch disc has a 15" Inch Overall Diameter, 10 Spline; 1 3/4" Inch Spline Diameter . While the spline diameter seems identical, the...

M35A2 “Tick Tick Tick Tick” from Transmission

Ah...ok..so please also check with engine running, transmission in neutral, clutch depressed. Does it still tick then? Top cover...remove floor panels, wipe dirt off the tranny cover (to prevent dirt from falling into the inside of the tranny) and remove the 8 or so bolts that hold the cover in...

M35A2 “Tick Tick Tick Tick” from Transmission

Are you saying that you can hear the ticking at idel (when the truck is standing still) or when the truck is driving in gear idling along? I assume the ticking is not present when stationary. Try it on a hard surface, low range, and see if it ticks in each gear. I would probably remove the top...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Wow, that seems a tad high. Governor should unload the compressor at 125 tops. I can see the safety valve go to 150 or maybe 175. 250 seems unneccessarily high. I like the mod and will add the valve, but at a lower setting.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

At which pressure is the valve set? 150?

    M35A2 engine rebuild?

Having rebuilt one, I would suggest to pick up a good running takeout if you are looking at something that makes financial sense. While I fully agree with Karl Kostman's points and also agree that rebuilding mine was a great learning experience and even fun. I had picked up a running LDS for...
