Mine has the resistor not only bypassed, but on the shelf in the shop. I figured if 12 volt plugs don't ever need to see 24 volts, the best way to make sure they didn't was to make only a 12 volt power supply to them.
We have had mid 20° mornings the last few days and we might see maybe...
I have done a 40 mile away recovery of a pair of gassers, 200 mile away recovery, a 400 mile away recovery of 4, a 800 mile away recovery and a 1100 mile away recovery of Dueces. Each was driven or flat towed. Adding up all the cost and the miles brings it to about $1.00-$1.50 per mile.
Some...
Right at the yellow and green line is an indication that 1 of the alternators is working and you have around 26 volts in the system. My #2 alternator was suffering from a bad diode trio when I got the truck. Since that battery is only used for starting, I went ahead and drove the truck while...
Was your check valve on the top of the IP dirty?
How about your exhaust, is one of the pipes flattened as if a fork lift picked it up wrong and pinched it shut? Air in doesn't help if you aren't getting air out.
What kind of mileage are you getting? Keeping the truck below 65 mph should...
With the truck running, check each battery individually. With it running, 14.4 volts is what the reading will be with a good alternator. Should be 12.4-12.6 volts with the truck not running and the key off.
What does your in dash volt meter say?
If one or both of the batteries is not...
Here is a kit like what you want:
Rostra 250-1223 Universal Electric Cruise Control Kit
JC Whitney might have it cheaper but I didn't look there this morning. You can put the magnet on the drive shaft for the VSS. A mid '80's Dodge Omni had an electronic VSS built into the mechanical...
Your starter is bad. That is way to slow cranking for a new set of batteries. The pink wire is the one you pulled off and put in the air intake to bleed the fuel filter. Make sure 12V is getting to the end of the pink wire and that you can hear the on/off solenoid inside the injection pump...
Check the timing too. That silly 230 will run 40°-60° off time. It will seem to run pretty good that far off to. Just not very fast. Also, pulling the spark plugs would be a good idea. They are kind of difficult to get to and people tend to just not check or change them. It is also a...
I third what Warthog and doghead wrote. I will also add this.
You can not "flood out" a diesel by pushing the pedal with the engine not running. It is a mechanical fuel injection set up. Pumping the pedal until your leg is cramping is no different than never touching it as far as the...
BFG 33 x 12.50 AT tires went on yesterday. No more shakes above 62 mph, looks better, is way more stable at speed and hopefully, the mileage will stay about the same running a few mph faster.
Replaced all the filters and fluids a week or so ago. The Transmission drops down to 1st when I am...
Tubes work great with radial tires. Just make sure you get radial tubes. Yes, there is a difference between tubes meant for radial tires and tubes meant for bias ply tires.
The fan and radiator are matched up great on this truck. Even in 100° plus temps and the gauge over 200° while going down the road. 5 minutes at idle and the temp is down to 180° or so and the radiator while not cool to the touch is not trying to burn your arm off.
Was it by chance Desert Tan with roadster doors? That was built by a guy in TN named Chad. It has been sold several times and the current owner hasn't been to the Zone yet.
Those stick on heat strips won't last on a rear M1009 window because of the pretty tight felts around the glass in the tail gate.
Use your outside mirrors is the best advice I can give you besides fixing your main heater.
