    How to pull-start a HMMWV...

I love when he realized that they were pulling his leg...but he didn't think that the joke was the HMMWV having a pull-start, he thought the joke was they deliberately omitted an important step to make it work.

    CV boots

I'm assuming that there was a typo and you mean M998A1? If so, I dug this information out of a thread from 2015: Those hit to being the part kits to rebuild the axles.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I'll be using that idea, thank you. It's pretty much in line with what I was going to do once the transmission install was finished up, but I do appreciate having a plan laid out for me.

    Humvees sold/remaining to be sold

Well, 4 or 5 already sold, right? Lets talk about those 4 or 5.

    Humvees sold/remaining to be sold

All I know is I wish I had the money to buy about 6 of them, cosmoline everything I can't use today, and pack them away into a warehouse. That way I at least have parts available for years and I can reference special parts to always be able to machine replacements.

M998 soft doors - repair or replace?

Seems like self-repair is the way to go... There's that HMMWV Quick Reference Guide that was relatively recently added to the TM section that details all the materials and the process needed to replace the soft door windows...it even has a template for if you need to make a brand new window...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

A box full of scrap HMMWV mirrors came in Monday, so I fiddled around and picked out two straight arms, two good locking studs, the nicest angle brackets, and my two good mirrors. $30 isn't a bad price to pay to get a box full of parts that allows me to take my two bent up mirrors and build two...

Options for replacing cushions in M998

Oh, thanks for that link. I didn't see this one at first. The picture step-by-step is fine. Just enough detail to track out where you got the stuff and what went on during your process. I was lucky enough that my HMMWV came with high-back seats in the cab, but I'm certainly interested in...

    HMMWV paint selection

This topic really would go farther in the paint section, but I'm pretty sure it came down to being able to match the color well, being affordable, and being available. Gillespie paints seems to make a better non-CARC product, but was much more expensive. The truest, most authentic solution is...

Options for replacing cushions in M998

Are you guys planning any detailed write-up? I do most of a my HMMWV research during downtime at work, and I can't watch videos at work. Plus, I just like reading things throughout the day anyway...

Hmmwv shopping, have a few questions

Also as is my norm for every vehicle transaction I do via private sale: arrange a police officer to come out and perform a VIN inspection of the vehicle before you hand the seller your cash. I refuse to get caught up in stolen or gray vehicle shenanigans, so doing that up-front really helps...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2017 - March VOTE HERE!

My vote for Migginsbros, because I've never wanted a forklift so much in my life. ...the real question is, can it safely lift shelters on and off MVs for service?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I fixed a dumb mistake I made with setting up the linkages on the transfercase and it looks like mine is going to be just fine. Offers self a small round of a applause. After that, I decided to sit in my HMMWV during an absolute downpour to see where it leaked. Naturally, water comes in...

    Stuck Transfer Case, NP242

You win an imaginary cookie. Ultimately, I had the connecting link that bolts to the transfer case facing the wrong direction. When it's around backward like that, it perfectly hits the transfer case to give zero movement in a spot you can't see, but still clicking into gear nicely. I flipped...

    M998 dome light suggestions

Do you have a part number off that guy? I believe my HMMWV has that hole pattern drilled out, but no light was there. Would be neat for a bolt-on installation since someone else did the work. :)

    Stuck Transfer Case, NP242

I will definitely look into that. Anything I can test without actually dropping the T-case is a prime diagnostic check. EDIT: Well, hello. I have the wrong connecting link installed, now that I'm looking at part diagram. That proper connecting link would be installed in a different direction...

    Stuck Transfer Case, NP242

I just put on the shift linkages myself and was manually playing around with it from the linkage rod. The shifting lever on the transfer case itself was also just installed. That lever, when travelling away from the driver, will bottom out almost against the transfer case. I can manually pull...

    Stuck Transfer Case, NP242

I was putting the linkages together for my NP242 and made the discovery that I apparently can only shift from H to HL and back. If it try to shift it farther into N (and L), it just won't go. I can feel a vague attempt at it moving, but it feels almost like metal flexing at the shift tab and...

Generator-battery indicator pegged for few minutes, then jump into green range

Possibly is different manufacturers, or could just be that I had an older kit. The drive belts I received were in poor condition, despite being new in bag. My kit was also missing two small pieces of hardware (a washer and a bolt) that should have been in one of the sealed bags. My...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Now that's a plan, if I've ever heard one. At the least, I'm going to be sharing information with the IN MVPA about current confusion the BMV has about their new laws to see if we can get anything pushed at an official level to have it clarified statewide. Get a little. Give back a little.
