I think today a material like Delrin would be an excellent choice for a replacement, but Delrin is very expensive. Rubber I think would be okay, but might "grab" too much.
Just curious - what is the purpose of the wood spacer that goes between the frame rails and the bed on the deuce? For the life of me, I don't see a purpose in it being there, it looks like it's presence would soak up moisture and lead to rust in that area (or at least wood rot), more so than...

Put a Coke-style bottle opener on the front of the bed, just next to the driver's side door. That way, I can crack open a cold one right after getting to the rally.

Have a rat's nest of electrical wire on the front of the firewall, I believe it is the source of all my light problems. Thanks to splitters and a lot of bubbafications, the previous user of my truck had about 5 things running off of 2 fuze blocks. That's why I believe my turn signals, warning...
I put "neither" but it's because I have a "head first, feet second, safety third" mentality. I often go on long trips in my deuce and I do the cross and say a prayer before the trip, just to make sure. Kinda a cross-your-fingers-and-hope-for-the-best thing.
