I'm a member of the club as well, beanman1. Been out on the street for a month. I have given serious thought to the possibility of starting my own business fixing up old MVs and jeeps, I have to think about it more. Because not only do I need work, but I don't really take orders well from...
May be easier to convert a M35A2 into an M48A2 tractor. Do a search on SS for a thread a while back for one very enterprising gent here who did the same, and came up with a quality tractor.
I offer this because converting a -35A2 to a -275 may be a bit harder, since the -275 uses different...
Bump to top, only three days to go!
Let's get a final tally of who's going to be showing up, how many guests, when they will be arriving, and what vehicle will be going with you.
I'll start the tally...
Don't feel bad - I own a Dodge Durango that has had the engine light on for 130,000 miles. Every time I bring it in, the techs say nothing is wrong, reset the light, and the next day the light is back on.
I'm beginning to think that the engine light is an optional feature of the truck, and...
I don't have any pictures, but if I were you, try finding some heavy steel, about 1/2 inch to 1-inch thick, and cut smaller pieces out of it. Make a panel as big as you can fit underneath the bed in the general area of where the crane is mounted, and bolt it to those four bolts you see there...
I am going to rebuild this one right, getting a welder so I can do all the small holes correctly. Gonna put new shocks, springs, shackles, wiring, tires, etc on this thing, get it looking like the USMC M416B1 trailer I have a picture of on this end.
Saw this on our favorite website. Looks like an FMTV prototype wrecker. Very cool.
Anybody have any further information about this class of prototypes?
I have bows for the M880, and I have a complete set of used, rusty troop seat uprights (the hinged metal pieces that go in the stake pocket that the wood bolts to). PM me if interested.
Can someone give me a footprint area of the inside of the MKT trailer when the sides are folded up? Please also make note of the wheelwell humps, as it will affect what I mount inside the trailer.
Had AMGeneral bring this up to me on Saturday, it's a M100 jeep trailer. Pretty nice condition, there was a panel replaced up front that could use a little cleaning up, and a little rust on the front bottom of that panel. Everything else is straight, minor stuff that I can easily handle...
Wish to thank Brandon, AMGeneral, and Bjorn, cranetruck, for meeting up with me on Saturday at Bjorn's place in Southern VA. It was a long time in the making, mainly just to shoot the sh*t and exchange some goodies between ourselves, some for us, and some for others as we worked the "Steel...
Long range forecasts currently predict Friday-Sunday to be sunny in the mid-70s. Looks great so far!
I'll bring some beer, a little firewood, and some quality cigars. I'll also bring some food, but I'm not a cook, I frequently make EPIC FAILS boiling water. So someone please bring extra dead...
I remember an ad from 20 years back I saw in Four Wheeler magazine (they had for sale ads at the time). It was a full size Blazer, lifted on 44 inch tires, and the ad said it came with a "12,000 lb wench".
Man, I'd hate to see that broad. Girl's so big hauling a$$ takes two trips.
