I personally think two times a year for "official Steel Soldiers rallies" at RC is enough, but who am I to hold back enthusiastic offroaders from wheeling? :)
I think I'll hold off till fall, summer for me around June is packed with other events, like Haspin, then the Carlisle car and truck...
Never seen any myself. There's a picture out there of an M416B1 with data plates, but it's too distant, can't tell if they are B1 series, or regular ones.
If all you want is something that looks the part, I'm sure these radios will be good enough - spray a new coat of paint and install in your truck. But a serious user of high-end radio equipment is going to spring the extra $1K for the nice units he has.
Mike Murphy is a great guy to deal with...
The encryption modules have been removed in all available SINCGARS radios to the public. If you are caught operating any radio with encryption like that found in these radios, you're in for a treat. As in, I doubt you'll see the light of day in the room they will put you in underneath NSA.
The "Search" function is your friend.
There are places that can provide you a title for this Jeep easily. Do a search on "title services" on this board, you'll be surprised at the amount of info there is here.
The 134ci flathead "L" engine is about as simple as engines come. It's a great start if you're new to playing with older vehicles.
That model is a CJ2A or CJ3A, the civvy equivalent of the M38. A lot of the parts are interchangeable between the models.
If the price is right, under $1K...
Had an awesome time - 4 hours up, 2 days there, and 4 hours back. Total mileage: 400 miles round trip including wheeling mileage. My deuce is going to need some SERIOUS PM before the East Coast Convoy to Aberdeen in May!
I sure wish No.2Diesel and his brother Rob were there, not to mention...
Those tires were used on the Arctic Land Train that the Army used in the 1950s and 1960s to supply the DEW line in Alaska and along the arctic circle, to warn the US of impending nuclear attack by Soviet bombers, should they decide to try attacking us that way. The land train is no more, there...
The M37 left yesterday for its new home, the gent that picked it up said he had 40 or so M37s or various condition, and the parts from this one will go to save another one. The rest will be scrap metal to be made into Chinese AKMs. So either way, this M37 will be reused in another weapon of...
How come all the bob jobs gotta take a nice 6x6 and cut it up? Can't you take one that is a little rusty and less-than-perfect and make your red-headed stepchild out of it?
:(
Sorry, just my two cents. It's a beautiful truck you have there, hate to see it get neutered.
When we camped out in that same spot two years ago, noone seemed to notice - it didn't happen. People started rolling in around 8am. Most of us were up by then anyways.
:-)
WHOEVER GETS THERE FIRST!!!
There is a nice little camping area immediately to the right of the driveway into Rausch Creek. It is under the trees, and is pretty nice. SNAG THAT ONE if it is still available. The rest of the camping sites are in the open on rock surface, and looks like camping...
Not quite - the M48 tractor utilized the standard air tank location and M35A2 fuel tank on the passenger side, while the M275 tractor has the air tanks on the passenger side, and a long, hard-to-find fuel tank on the driver's side. Creating a M48 tractor could be done by yanking the bed and...
