Coaldale, being what you saw in the background, offered us nothing other than a place to park away from the road . . . and a great place to think about zombies.
Later that night we were approached by a insistent hitchhiker, we ended up giving in and taking him along.
He was/is skin and...
Did some painting before taking it out,
W/ the top up, . . .and down in travel mode.
In set-up mode,
As you can see . . . ran out of paint before I was done :(
Some of the last mods before the trip,
Added another fill, w/ valves, to the potable water tanks. Now each tank has it's own fill and vent line.
We also moved the "cheater bar", it was getting in the way of walking on the bumper to check fluids.
She then added some no-slip stuff,
And, the...
Mon we did a run back into town to look for fuel. Ended up finding some UMO and as much "bad" gas as we could hold.
After topping off her tank, and filling the tanks on the trailer, we headed back to the cove where I had left my truck. We were going to spend the night and then head north in the...
After the last post we had even more fun.
Pulling into a walmart lot to do some map checking turned into one those nights.
We were there long enough that the inside restroom sounded good. Now I'm still not shutting mine off because of the non-working alt. I leave it idle while I run inside...
Have wondered that as well. After putting them on Elise's 109 we did notice any, and all looseness that was in the steering system.
I'll be adjusting the steering gearbox before she drives it back down to J-Tree (she may have to leave N.Nev before I can, and would be driving solo)
:ditto:
Ok, we're headed north. Will try to sort it out as we go :-|
First, fuel gathering. We'll see what we find around this lake community. W/ more fuel we'll be able to work our way north. Have some contacts in Gerlach . . . I'm sure I can get us there ;)
Left J-Tree headed to Parker, `Zona, so that I could reg the new M105A2 Hardtop. Leaving the High Desert for higher (and cooler) elevations starts by heading down to the Colorado River, just over 400'. Made it there early on Fri so that the reg'ing was painless w/ min of waiting.
Last night we...
That's correct. The top of the jack has a channel that fits the ridge beam. Once it's jacked up and pinned in place the jack gets removed.
I sure would like to come up w/ an easier way to do it, . . . like hydraulics in all four corners ;)
I can take some photos and post up tomorrow . . . been...
I pull trailers a lot. I think that my 2 1/2 runs better in the sand w/ a trailer on, it helps keep the rear from hopping & spinning. I do also air down, but then I only run 25 in the rear duals as it is (loads of dirt/sand roads). Elise's 109, w/ singles & the weight of the box, does way better...
I'm not sure that the oil came out of the drain hole. A lot of it looks to be forward (engine side) of the bell housing. I'm use to the oil getting blown back and coating the bottom of the tranny + things farther back. I would think that the oil is coming from somewhere high up on the rear/side...
That hole is just the bellhousing drain, the plug (for fording) should be in the other spot next to it.
Lube order is # 9-2320-209-12-1
Sched Maint is # 9-2320-209-10-2
Those are both good ones.
I would look above & forward of that "rear of engine leak" to see where it started.
