I added a factory tire carrier to the rear and I finished re-upholstering the passenger seat with the kit I got from New Life Canvas. I then put the seat covers from Smittybilt on top of that. Pictures to follow and I'm going to try and do the back seat tomorrow.
It's just two springs that keep the ashtray closed. I have tried to find them before but can't find anyone who sells them. I have some in my Suburban and I probably need to take one out and figure out what kind of spring it is. Once you do that it's just a matter of finding them from McMaster...
Just to chime in I wouldn't let Aamco rebuild the gears on my bicycle. Literally.
I took a 1996 Z-71 to them back around 98-99 time frame. They put in a "rebuilt" 4L80E transmission and I kid you not less than two weeks later it was junk. I took it back to them and they said they wouldn't...
I don't know what they are worth really. Is $20 fair? I can ship it in a parcel post box if need be. I have all the bolts etc. The only thing that's missing is the bolt that actually holds the tire on the carrier but it should just be a $1 max from a hardware store. It had a a lot of...
Right I understand the CUCVs came from the factory with the tire mounted inside the cab. That's what my truck had when I got it from DRMO. The problem with the tire being on the inside is that it takes up A LOT of room and makes it so I can't even load a sheet of plywood flat in the bed. Also I...
The title says it all! I got this off a member here who had one on a truck he was parting out. I "think" it's factory but I'm not sure. It just bolts to the side of the body and has backing plates to spread the weight out over the sheet metal instead of just relying on bolts to hold the weight...
It depends on what side of the bumper it was one. We numbered all of our vehicles "HQ - ___". The numbers to an extent would id the vehicle's purpose. HQ-6 was out battalion commander, HQ-3 was the battalion ops/S-3, on up to HQ-5. Past that though it was just random. So HQ-101 is probably...
Well as it turns out when I bought my tailgate that had the factory tire carrier it had a factory regulator. I don't know why I never thought of it before. Anyway I went and took a nap earlier after duck hunting (last day of the season) and when I woke up I decided to give it a shot.
It...
As I laid in bed last night I brainstormed about how I could go about this. I think you would have to shell out a lot of money to someone who did custom work in order to get it done and have it look clean.
I've also thought about getting some tubing and fabbing up a frame and then have someone...
Well just when I thought the last one set a record this one goes and beats it!
First I called a few machine shops and finally got a guy in Houston that specializes in making gears. He told me that the making a gear would probably be somewhere between high and expensive. But even then he...
I remember the way we used to clean those was the smallest soldier in the motor pool would take a good shower and then put on clean PT gear. Then we'd open the top and they would kick off their shoes, climb on in and start scrubbing. The rear hatch was also open during this time.
I got a quote from a guy to do my CUCV for just the kit. It seemed about as expensive as adding AC so I refrained at that point. I may in the future but it's not that big of a priority.
1/4 in fine thread nuts worked just fine for me. I have had them in there for a little bit now and they still work great. No problems even going over a lot of bumps.
