Made some progress on the goofy looking m416. Nothing special up close but it’s green.

I might have to check with organizations like that to find put more about it. I don’t think they were actually used in the war, I suspect they were ordered because of the war and never used (probably too late to need them) Based on newspaper ads there were some big surplus auctions in the US...
So a quick search of that newspaper archive site showed ads based upon the one in the original post started showing up in California newspapers around October of 1921. Prices were $275 then eventually $200.
It looks like an earlier ad with a different picture showed up in a Davenport, Iowa...
$400 is a great deal if it’s solid. The lunette itself is the same as on m416s (although some early m100s did have the thinner style) and will bolt up as long as they didn’t ruin the casting (which looks okay from the pic).
