Where it's at is alot like my old neighborhood back in Midland Texas. Had an issue in that neighborhood with some kids breaking into houses. 3rd house they broke into, both of them were killed. No theft issues after that. Plus there is security on site as well.
Not like anyone who's unfamiliar...
Blocks of wood under each axle, and the rear tire blocked as well. So it was safe and stable, I just didn't like it sitting disabled like that for so long.
Also saw this picture on the forum, pretty well confirms how underrated these cranes are. That's one of those heavy ammo trailers (12k pounds?) with no outriggers, no supports, and looks like he's pretty close to full extension.
Wouldn't that be too much strain on the rigging, since the angle would be really shallow? Considering the relatively short height of the boom I'm trying to think of a good way to rig it up as a spreader bar as close to the crane hook as possible.
With setting up the equipment to be more versatile, what about using the boom jacks and travel legs as spreader bars? Thinking about welding on some tabs that would allow them to be connected to the wiffle tree
finally able to get the m816 off its outriggers today! Been sitting on them since late November when the disassembly for the airbrake conversion started. Finished up the front axle so finally felt comfortable letting the weight off of the outriggers.
Greased everything on the driver side...
yes, it threads onto the outer part of the hose counter-clockwise. Then the second section is flared and threads into the hose/first section, pinching the hose between the fitting.
Although it's still immobile (air brake conversion on the m816) it's still being put to use.
Had a couple generators to unload from a trailer, then load into the back of a m923.
The MEP002a will be going onto my tool/welding trailer later this year.
Not as productive today as I had planned but some progress at least. Couldn't find my step bit for the drill so had to go buy a new one.
Started off by opening up the hole through the frame for the airline flange fitting.
Next I ran a 16 1/2" airline from it down to the fitting on the air...
Front passenger hub is now completely assembled. Removed the brake adjusters and worked them until they were able to function correctly then reassembled with a good amount of anti-seize. Axle shaft and both bearings greased, as well as all the nearby grease zerks.
Have to enlarge the...
Been reading up on a bunch of peer reviewed articles about biodiesel, in particular with common rail engines. When the biodiesel is from a category 1 or 3 source (typical plants are source 1, source 3 is algae) the common rail engines run fine over extended testing. The biodiesel from category 2...
No. The T138 case is physically larger than the T1138.
You can install an air switch to disable/enable the sprag on the T138 case. Would also be much cheaper than trying to get custom gears made. I have one that I pulled out of a m51a2 dump truck that I'll sell for a good price.
The stock valve bank looks like a solid 1 piece unit on the crane bucket. Will have to add another, separate valve bank plumbed in after the stock unit or buy a new 5 valve bank setup.
I have a 18k winch I've been thinking of adding (eventually) like that, discussed a few pages ago. Mounting...
Loading pics from the phone directly to the site usually doesn't work (site freezes or times out). Using the Tapatalk app from the phone is much faster/reliable.
That bouncing cracks the bellhousing and adapter plate for those running without the rear mount on the transmission. That happens on pavement driven trucks. Those that go offroad it is a necessity.
With the twin countershaft transmissions they require a mount. Most have a single mount going across the top at the rear of the trans (like a leaf spring). There are 2 studs on the top of the transmission, that's what the spring is bolted to. Some others (mostly Mack and some Volvo) use 2 round...

Today a friend of mine came by and we worked on the air brake setup. Spent most of the day working on the front axle. Stripped down both ends of the axle to remove the seals which turned out to be a pain in the ass removing the seal on the driver side. Ended up taking the 5ft prybar and feeding...
