Right about $2400 for everything. Gotta think about location. I did the 395's in Texas where the tires are cheaper and got my bolts at a discount because of my old employer.
Cost depends on location. I did the 395 conversion on the deuce for the same price as going to g177's. That's including the adapter plates, 1" bolts, and new studs on 5 hubs (converted to right hand thread lug studs).
Their price tag of $395 does not include the adapter plate.
I drove mine on 395" s from west Texas up to northern Utah this spring/summer at 54mph, no issues from the tires. I've already sold the adapter plates but would be willing to sell the tires/wheels
.79 is the overdrive ratio on the 3053a.
Considering the extra torque from your CAT 3116, the 3053a will have a shortened life because your past its torque rating. The Spicer 6453 from the m809 seriesa 5 tons has a .78 overdrive and will fit easily, rated to handle your torque as well.
For a test run pull the fuel feed line from after the fuel filter and run it into a fuel can. Crank the engine over and see if it fires up, a couple sprays of starting fluid is OK while cranking.
This will bypass the common fuel system issues and let you know if the engine is currently working...
If the trans is overheating pick up a auxiliary oil cooler and plumb it in. For less than $150 you can set that up.
For more engine power on the cheap get the air filter upgrade and run a 6" straight pipe exhaust. Different fuel button and the dual fuel line mod. Keep an eye on your EGT's
Since you don't like the answers from these MV people post up on another forum that has more of a vehicle modification section and thinks outside the box more often. Pirate4x4.com, cumminsforum.com are 2 large ones that come to mind.
Cold diesel engines are not as efficient until they warm up...
I agree, neither setup is wrong, it really just comes down to preference and vehicle use. 11" s dualled and 395's singled are my favorites for deuces and 5 tons.
A benefit towards the duals is weight. 395's are the biggest tire I am willing to pickup/roll around. 11" s are easier to pick up...
Service truck could get to them within 24 hours, assuming they had reception. Driver's were expected to just sit and wait.
Both duals and singles have their benefits and downsides. Singles have wider tread for better traction and thicker rubber for less likely of flats. Duals provide more...
Saw in another thread that your having a hard time starting it when the temp is under 60F.
If the fuel line pressure is too low then it would explain both issues.
The transmissions used by 1 tons have a much lower duty rating at those power levels. The Spicer 3053a from the deuce has a heavier duty rating than the NV4500 for example. If you don't drive the truck often its fine. If you haul regularly or have a heavy truck (wrecker) a medium or heavy duty...
