The 700r4 is 1" shorter than the Th400. I've ben researching that info for myself lately. The only thing with the 700r4 is make sure it's a later model. I think like 1988 and later. The earlier ones had issues. Unless it's been all rebuilt. Also check that it has the TV or kick down cable...
Your truck should have a 6.2 liter diesel in it unless someone changed it to a 6.5. The 6.2 and the 6.5 are the same engine. Just .3 liter displacement increase. You should be able to drop a 6.5 right into your truck with little to no modifications.
The turbo 6.5 is side mounted on the...
Nope! The axles on the M37 are all Dodge. I think one might be able to make a disk brake kit work with much modification etc, but I would think that by the time your down you would still end up doing what Uglytruckling did with his kits. So one would reinvent the wheel so to speak.
If...
I know that. Kevin and I have known each other for oh maybe 20-25 years. My question was directed to the OP asking him to post the information and webpage from Summit Racing on the disk brakes for an M37. I believe he is wrong in his information.
Yes the M35A2 does goe fast, but the M211 rides much nicer. If I ever get another duce it will be a M211/M135 family vehicle. They ride nice, they stop great and IMHO are a little easier to mantain than the M35A2...I should know I've owned both!
You might be able to figure out the wiring using a gasser duce wire harness or even a M38A1 or a M151 since they would have had to make the wiring somewhat to mill standard. Since it's a rare bird you may have to work it anyway you can.
The reason I asked is that I thought it would be easier to put it in now than it would be later. It's a good addition to the motor no matter if it's driven by a little old lady on Sundays or the little old lady from pasadina.
The 700r4 is a good transmission that got a bad rap (disclaimer...
Not much differnece IMHO between the Corp 14 bolt and the Dana 60 rear axles. But a Dana 60 front and Dana 70 like stated above would be a good combination with out going to the heavy duce axles.
That would be my answer also. The trucks were blue with OD Green canvas. The government did not contract out for blue canvas just for the air force. I'm not sure on the troop seats but if it did I think they would have gotten a coat of blue on them when they repainted the trucks blue after...
Yes I have found that too, but from what I can tell to have a manual valve body on the automatic transmission one might as well put a manual transmission in. With the manual valve body you have to shift it into second gear then third then forth. It's not really an automatic transmission where...
Hi everyone,
I've searched for this anwser for the past hour or so and haven't found what I'm looking for.
The HMMWV when first produced stock had a 3L80 transmission in it which is more or less the TH400 or turbo 400 transmission. Many of you have made the conversion from the 3l80 to the...
IMHO that truck has been repainted. The paint is two crisp for it to be the original paint job. If its been repainted then what other things are hidden...paint especially camo hide a lot of sins. If they are going to put a new (I read that as a good take out) transmission in the truck that...
As far as I have known they have always had a diesel motor. I think the Chrysler prototype that AM General beat out had a BB V8 in it that was gas. But the AM General version always had a diesel. Though I remember reading somewhere along the way that the first protoype used a different engine...
ConductorX I love your thing! (oh that sounds bad, but he knows what I mean...)
I think for small parts DIYing it is probably ok like conductorx is doing with his vw engine tin. But for large parts like was said it might be money in the pocket to have someone else do it. Unless you...
