Problem is that most of the spacers are 6061 T6 extruded aluminum, sometimes called aircraft aluminum or billet.
6061 is quite malleable, much much softer than any aluminum wheels.
aluminum wheels are cast or forged out of a stonger grade.
for these wheels to set right on a CUCv the spacers...
I would like the spacer as long as they are steel, there are alot of aluminum ones out there.
as an engineer / machinist, I know how easy aluminum distorts and bends.
Those wheels & tires are heavy and so is the truck.
Traction & looks
The GMA cover on my M101A2 was originally green and had been painted Tan CARC, I presume by the IANG where the trailer came from.
The tan has "washed away" on top where water puddles in between the bows.
While I agree the M36 is light duty (and short) compared to a 5 ton M814.
but the statement "a duece with a steel bed would not leave enough load cap" doesn't make much sense as the M36 with the steel bed that is on it has a 10k capacity. So if the roll back bed weighed twice the stock bed you'd...
"would it hurt the truck to have mixed tires like that?"
the mixed tread patterns shouldn't really hurt the truck as it has open differentials.
On road ride & handling might be an issue.
Note that on the tandems you will want tires that measure the same diameter / circumference not just the same...
I know a few people that run 50%WMO in their CUCV's and heard of one that ran 100% WMO in his M1008 (grabbed the wrong can) it made it home on used motor oil.
Now if I order a pizza I want it fast & hot........
Deuces & CUCV's aren't very fast. but are very Cool.
8 to 10mpg isn't very...
I looked at a M35A3 today, specifically the wheels & data plate.
the only weight listings on the data plate was 13,xxx empty and 18,xxx loaded.
I had looked for the weight rating of 4000lb on the wheels, to confirm what gimpyrob had posted.
I was curious about the wheels, because my M36A2...
M36A3 W/winch=RARE
Question,
I've read here that the A3 wheels are rated for 4,000lb each.
My M36A2 W/winch & 900-20's weighs in about 15,750 plus the 10,000 on road cargo = 25,750lb
The A3 has 6 tires that weigh about 250lb each
It must be heavier than the A2 version yet 6 x 4,000(wheels) =...
I have had some success with pushing the tire down so one bead sticks, then flip the assy over with the rim on something so the weight of the tire sagging helps get the other bead to where it needs to go.
order 4 gallons at a time from PAINTS for the best price.
General Jims had some Gillespie on the shelf last fall.
It can be shot with or without hardener, obviously with hardener will be better for durability and recoating year after yaer.
Running the 36" bias plys on stock M880 rims myself, so no real air pressure help here. I run 25psi.
Depending on the 16.5 rim, I have been told countless times that 16.5 rims do not have the ridge that retains the bead. and that 16.5 tires will come off at pressure of 20 and below. This is true...
