Other than the -20 and -34 is there a stand alone (civilian) manual on the 6.2L motor? I'm going to be doing some work on my motor over the next few months and I would like to know how much this bolt get's tighten etc... :)
I have seen the set up he is talking about back in the 80s when I hung out at the local NG Armory. I believe Bob is correct that the system wasn't meant to seal the mosture out but to help add shielding for commo equipment. The local unit level installed the kit to put them on. It was not a...
Ok now your just bragging...a great looking truck and a blong hottie! Now it's starting to sound like a fish story....
That truck is so nice and so original I'd hate to see you modify it all up, but it is your truck so please do as you wish...just keep us posted and take lots of pics...
Hello and welcome. Ah the age old question to swap or not to swap? Yes a Duramax 6.6 sould be a bolt in application, but you may need to make some modifications. I would seak further advice on other sites about this also. The Dodge Cummins 5.9 liter 6BT will fit in the truck and has been...
I assume you are talking about the plug wires that go from the distributor to the spark plugs. You will need military plugs too as the wires have a screw on connector at both ends for both the distributor and the spark plug. As to where to find them I have no clue other than to keep an eye on...
Thanks guys.... I had many options most involved buying someone elses cab that needed a lot of work to repair for a large chunk of change plus shipping from somewhere not close to me.... So I thought I'd try and fix it myself.....Not to bad for $100 in metal and welding wire...
Just thought I'd show some before and after pics of my project while I'm still working on it. This is not going to be a 100% masterclass restoration but a concept vehicle for my driving pleasure... Thanks for looking.
@Barrman... Tim yes thanks and I wasn't offended by your first post no worries there. Since I've decided to go with the 6.2 I'm sure I will be "picking" your brain a lot as we go down the road with this project. I like the idea of the manual glow plug system and will have to keep that in mind...
Ah ok...I'm not lost any more. It's been 15 years since I had my M211 so my memory is getting a little fuzzy I forgot there were three connectors. I was just thinking of the one for the cab.
Do a web seach for 8 pin amphenol connector and see if you can find a match. But cleaning them up...
Ok...I understand what you said 67_C30.... I just picked up a 6.2 out of a CUCV that I'm going to clean up and I want to add a turbo to it. If I find the turo and all the parts and an IP off of a 6.5 is that all I need to do or should I be looking for 6.5 heads as well?
Tim,
I know basically how the batteries go I've been in MVs for about 30 years now... What I was asking was how to wire up the starter switch with the glow plug circut. Yes 24V with 24V starter just like a HMMWV. In fact I was thinking of using the starter switch from the HMMWV which...
Ok so I'm building a concept truck using an M37 as the bases. In my alternet universe the HMMWV doesn't come around for another 15 years 1995ish and the M37 is still in use in the 1980 much like the M35...anyway I am looking to install a 6.2L GM motor in the the truck and since I'm making it...
I'm not speaking with any authority here, but I think any brush guard found on a contract M880 serries truck would have been unit installed. Either taken off of another truck like Bobs AF Crackerbox or something like that, or they went to the local off road / speedshop and purchased some with...
There has been talk about lowering the compression ration when adding a turbo. Seems that the 6.5 is around 19:1 ish and the 6.2 is 22:1 ish and that if you add a turbo to a 6.2 that one should look at lowering the compression ration to around that 19:1 mark. My questions be how does one lower...
Those are made by Amphenol connectors here is a link on their site for product search. If you can find a number you should be able to look for it. Search : Amphenol Maybe that will help?
For the windshield you can use the same gasket that is used on the M35 duce windows. Both windshields are the same. As for the door tracks...AB Line. Midwest Military or Vintage Power wagons would be your best bet. I myself will look at my local autoglass shop to see if they have anything like...
