That looks like it was field built. The use of the troop seat to make a slef, the screened in raised roof of the bed area. Looks like a local unit modification and not mass produced.
Very cool picture though!
I would say check any grounding issues and for any shorts or cuts in the wires to and from module. Make sure all connectors a clean and tight.
Changing to the MSD might be a good alternative but certainly not stock.
I agree with Mike. To the guy doing the work a transmission is a transmission and he probably didn't even know there was a difference between early and late style etc. Just put it in and make it go.
Just go to wallymart and pick out two batts for a Chevy truck or Van. Anything that will start a V8 motor on 12V will work doubled up for 24V. Since your motor is changed I would go for what your motor is. Anything with about 7-800 CCA should do the job IMHO.
That would have been 24087 for Army. Strata Blue for Air Force and MC Green semi-gloss for Marine Corps.
Jay tell your paint guy "it's my truck and this is how we are going to paint it!"
When they say semi-gloss think more like eggshell then a not as glossy as gloss. It's not that...
I decided to fix instead of replace. Maybe I'm crazy but it was a money issue more than anything. Anyway here are some pics. Sorry some of the pics were taken with the cell phone.
Well for an M37 you've got a few choices. For Army the 23070 as an out of the factory color early 50s. 24087 which is a slightly darker more brownish version of the 23070 which would be good for late 50s -60s as in Vietnam or W. Germany vehicle or a motorpool repaint of the vehicle. You could...
Adjust the brakes on the wheels. I found this helped the peddle out a lot. It's so easy to do too. I love adjusting the brakes on my old M211 vrs on my old M35.
Does the pintle hitch on the M998 (and variants) swivle like that on other MVs (M37, M715, M1008)?
I have seen pictures of the pintle hitch and it looks like it uses the same chain safety plate as the M151A2 used. Is this true and if so does that plate have a hole in the middle for the...
If your replacing the steering wheel and don't plan on reusing the original one then don't be affraid to use a BFH. I had to beat mine off. Puller wouldn't even budge it!
Custom wheels from Marsh would be about your only option. I have seen where the army had some tubless rims made for trailers, but nobody has come up with the actual rims just pics. But custom built will be your best bet.
Been there done that! M211 died and I used a buddies 5 ton to tow it home. Went about six miles when my wife flashed the headlights on her car for me to pull over. Pulled over and the trans was pouring oil on the ground and smoking. I had done the same thing thought all was in nutral, but...
