Not to many M221 out there in restored condition. In fact I don't remember ever seeing one. Most have been converted in some way...So my vote (for what it's worth) is to restore it back to original and get another vehicle for the kids to ride in... :)
Good luck with this....I'm reminded though of an old saying....You can't fight city hall. Well you can, but they will make life heck for you if you win. It will be little BS things that they would normally over look...like your grass is 1/8 to tall or your gutters need painting or some other...
WWII trucks that came factory with winches had longer frames and the winch bolted to the longer frame. The winch exstention are a later modification.
Yeah the winch looked a little big for the CC but hey... :) Truck looks good. Please keep us posted as you go along. Did I mention I sell...
The brakes are IMHO better on a M211/M135 and varants than they are on the M35. Tires and rims will interchange with the M35. So unless you want to be a purist you can change the rims from a M35 and get rid of the rivited rims. Hunt around for parts. You'll be surprised at what can be found...
RE: Re: RE: M37s and their trannys
The whole purpose for double clutching was to slow the RPMs of the motor down so you could slip into the next gear. You could get the same effect by just taking longer to shift.... :)
Hey Bill W nice light weight in your avitar!
You have a restorable truck there. You should be able to get the 5th wheel from a military 5ton to put on it. I think they are the same, The military ones move front to back and side to side on their tilt or axis. Good save!
RE: a2
I think I know who your were talking to and if it is the same guy then you have to take a lot of what he says with a grain of salt...about the size of a salt lick is good.....:) Anyway...It's a good story, but I don't think it would have happen. First off the trailing arms for a 151...
Re: RE: to add another battery
Popped yourself in the head saying why didn't I think of that didn't you?....lol
Yeah your better off doing the power distribution than a thrid battery. ....Unless your truck has been altered isn't there 24v already going back there? I know the black out lights...
I would think that anything you use to desolve the glue is going to desolve the foam too. If you don't care to save the foam, or your already beyond that point then I would just get a residue remover or glue remover from the hardware store and have at it. Some elbow grease is going to be...
Because they are selling the duces in large numbers now there are folks on here and other lists who are buying them in lots like 3-5 trucks at a time...they don't need that many trucks so they are selling them...so now is a good time to buy one private sales. You'll pay a little bit more, but...
Yep...the 800 serries 5 tons have a longer nose to allow for the cummins to fit. As I understand it the multifuel in the 5 ton is the same as the one in the 2.5 tons except that the 5 ton has the oil pan reversed and a bigger turbo, plus I believe either the IP is bigger or has been turned up...
The "spruce deuce" the colors are just wrong....they are not right....maybe if it sits in the sun for awhile it will look better, but to me it just doesn't look right.
How much time and how much money do you have. Anything can be done if you have plenty of both.
I'm confused are you taking a GMC and wanting to put the M35 multifuel in it or are you talking about the conversion like recovery did? Because if it is a GMC you also have the automatic...
Yep you have to muddy up gasoline in the multifuel engines. The motor prefers to run on diesel and some of the later motors are not multifuel any more because the fuel compinsator on the injector pump has been by passed and staight diesel is all you should run. The fuel compinastor adjusted...
That was a unit level conversion to turn a regular cargo truck into a some what secure box truck (i.e. M109) Then they would throw a extended canvas top on it to cover the top and sides. Some were used for parts storage, some for medical equipment, some for food service, basically anything you...
Yes....those were the first attempt at a better mirror than the 5 inch round on a single stick. Meaning the mirror would just vibrate so bad that you couldn't see out it. So the first attempt was to go with those like you have. Then the west coast styles came into play.
Oh common man...I just had breakfast....I'd like to keep it down thank you! LOL... So your in Korea eh. I have never been there, but I had Korean neighbors who made kimshi in the back yard....Even in the winter with all the windows closed I could smell that shat when they opened it...blah...
