So, what's the deal with trailer prices? My weekend rant.

I looked a bit and could not find an M105 for less than $500 that included racks and bows. I got mine for $250-ish and it will go behind the A2. I don't really see the utility of the M series trailers.... way to tall and only a ton? You can get a low height drive on trailer that holds a ton...

    Un-bob a deuce

I can see some very real economic gains.. fewer tires to replace, better MPG, tolls would cost less, less maintenance for rear suspension. I can see some negatives... losing 6x6 is about all I can come up with. This truck is mainly for winter driving. I still need to winterize it, but in PA I...

Sweet! No NDTs... you will actually be able to STOP in wet weather... lucky dog.

    waste oil pump setup

Is this supposed to be all connected in line? If so, you will not know what filter is clogged.. fluid pressure gauges are about $10 a pop for <100psi. Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge, 0~100 PSI with Mounting Bracket Quite a few people are running towards those TSC Goldenrod water filters, they...

    Un-bob a deuce

Who pays $6-10K for an M35a2? An A3. Its NOT CHEAPER to buy as new truck. My truck cost $1500 off the Mecanicsburg lot. There ARE NO XM-381s. It was a prototype that never got to any sort of production. Most people seem to be missing the fact that this would be un-bobbed many years down...

    Un-bob a deuce

OK, How about if I convert to an XM-381? Still an MV, still legit :) The cost to undo it is some welding rod and some electricity.. I see maybe $20 tops even in Obama's utopia where energy prices are sky high. I figured some sort of gussets *might* be required by as mentioned... every thing...

What did you win? June 16, 2011

M105a2 from FT. Drum. Second time I tried to bid on one... paid less than half of what the first one went for... patience, young Jedi. Plus I lived there in the mid-70's... gonna try and find the house we live in ... the Blizzard of 77 was awesome!

    Un-bob a deuce

I have the trailer to bob my 66. I plan on using the M105A2 trailer springs/subframe.. I see no real issues with the setup for my needs. I would like to know has anyone un-bobbed a deuce? I know welding a frame has issues, but by the time I am done with my bobbed duece and am ready to put it...

How hard to reseal/boot front axle??

Unless you have differential fluid leaking out DON'T PULL THE HUB, use the zippered boots (they work fine) and be done in about an hour. When did 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' become bad advice? Nothing in the hub pull down will be found that cannot be diagnosed without pulling it...

Remove water from oil./ effective filtering

Try it out. See if it will do anything with a gallon of bad oil.

    Vacuum to collect ALT. Fuels

I just don't think the vacuum idea will work without significant cost and expense. Sure you COULD hook up a compressor to run a vacuum pump... but why not just pressurize the oil to 10-14psi? Are your hoses and receptacle tank sealed to withstand that much negative pressure? Remember you...

Remove water from oil./ effective filtering

That Mr. Filter only get the 'free water'. Anything emulsified is going straight through it. Also, there seems to be an issue that excessive head pressure (ie fuel in the bowl) can push water through. I don't see this as a solution to filtering water from WMO... I hope you didn't pay $90+...

Remove water from oil./ effective filtering

I am still working on the TP water filter.. I read this: Now it is time to measure the remaining water in the pitcher and calculate the difference which is the water the roll of TP absorbed. The starting water was approximately 41 ounces or 1240 ml or a little over 2.5 pints of water. The...

Remove water from oil./ effective filtering

I'm thinking no. I held the unit in my hand and the drain on the sediment bowl is just that, for sediment. The ELEMENT itself is made with a special material that absorbs the water and holds in the media.... otherwise it would be impossible to make the claim 'flow reduces as the media becomes...

    Vacuum to collect ALT. Fuels

Diesels don't have any vacuum... M35A2s sure don't. Thats why we have the air compressor to operate brakes and wipers.

    Vacuum to collect ALT. Fuels

The pump part number is Melling M55HV and here is a SBC pump with a plate and pressure guage: http://wasteveggieoilexplorations.shutterfly.com/48 THere is a junk yard in Hazelton and I"m sure that a used pump will down just as well as new... but cheaper. Its a high volume pump that replaces...

Remove water from oil./ effective filtering

That only tests for presence of water. There are chemical tests that are good down to .01% water by volume... and if you make biodiesel you know the ATSM test for water is the hardest of all to pass. You can also boil the oil and compare before/after weights. But to my knowledge none of the...

Remove water from oil./ effective filtering

No way I ever put a 55 gallon drum of boiling oil anywhere near me. *MAYBE* if it were double walled. I see no fire extinguishers. Water WILL NOT PUT OUT A CLASS B (or now K) FIRE. Are you people really ready to deal with the possibility of boiling hot/burning oil leaking from a drum? The...

    Vacuum to collect ALT. Fuels

For larger tanks I would used a submersible type pump... that way there is no long feed to prime.. the pump itself is in the fluid. We had them in the Navy.. they were just called 'submersible pumps' made of brass and weighed about 50lbs. But that was for dewatering a compartment. For 55...
