    Need a deuce

How do you expect to cover insurance? Figure that out and you have overcome the biggest obstacle. All the owner would need to do is set up a GPS device and record your trip. Play it back and if you do dumb things you lose you deposit. I would think that $1500 is a good deposit.

How many ways does government liquidation suck let me count the ways!

    1. Not uncommon, lots of places don't give out authority willy-nilley. Considering GL doesn't OWN THE PROPERTY, its just an auctioneer, what 'authority' should they have? 2. GL doesn't control EUCs. They do have to submit paperwork, but again, they hand off the process to the gooberment...

    F-4 Phantom picture thread

I lived in W. Germany for 6 years... saw LOTS of F-4s. I remember at Ramstien AFB they would taxi right along the street. Great time to be a kid. McGuire's approach was right over teh Ft. Dix training area, and you could sit at the start of the approach lights and they flew right over you...

    What is a fair price

I have to pass up a ton of parts trucks for my CCKW because while the truck is a good deal, I figure $3 a mile for shipping (low boy and winch, non-working truck) and lose lots of otherwise good deals. Call 3-5 brokers. U-ship is nice, but does't plug into the National Freight Co's routes and...

    GL botched auctions

I guess I did. The OP wants a free trailer, a new tire and a refund. When the right course of action would have been to refuse the trailer claiming damage. If the OP was all fired up for some justice he should file in small claims court, get a judgment and collect from GL. Posting on SS...

    GL botched auctions

Your views are pretty off base, and mostly unsupported in fact. Cash for clunkers did not apply to used vehicles for purchase. You could have traded one in, but you had to own/insure it for at least a year and had to purchase a new car. Plus the traded in vehicle had to be no more than 25...

    GL botched auctions

Evidently this: 41 CFR 102-38.285 - How do we transfer title from the Government to the buyer for personal property sold? - Code of Federal Regulations - Title 41: Public Contracts and Property Management - Subpart D: Disposing of government aircraft and aircraft pa Is the Federal Rules for...

    GL botched auctions

I doubt that GL would fold. They would simply pass the costs on. I'm sure THEIR CONTRACT has fixed stated costs and they are simply going off that list of rules they won THEIR contract under. I'm sure the gooberment didn't even read the title/sf-97 part, just the costs analysis to make sure...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

In Whitehorse the average price PER LITRE of diesel is 1.229. That was the lowest. Most 'average community prices' are 1.30. I'll assume Canadan dollars per liter. Yukon Gas Prices The dollar is trading TODAY at 1:.98 (the Cn Dollar is worth more than a US dollar). 3.7lt per gallon =...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

That was a nice long post that really went is a bog ole circle. You know what.. if the MVPA did something like, publish 'The Archives' (TACOM papers) they would get some credit from me. But seeing thats a 6+ year boondogle (and I'm sure all the really good stuff has already 'found a home')...

    GL botched auctions

Has ANYONE to date pursued a lawsuit against GL for a VEHICLE that was substantially not what they stated it was? No one has posted they did that I know of. They get around title laws how? Because you are not holding them to that standard? And when they fail you take legal recourse? No...

    GL botched auctions

For vehicles we have an extra layer of Consumer laws that says you cannot state you are selling a car with 10,000 miles, but when I pick it up its 100,000, and then FORCE ME to still buy it at the 'agreed' price (or lose my $). That would be my best guess as to why they are a bit 'fairer' when...

    cleaning up deuce

Beware of soda blasting. Its not really that beneficial for spot jobs. The soda leaves a film that really messes up paint less its cleaned up completely. For all the complexity of soda blasting vs a wire wheel (for up to a couple of sq ft) wire wheel it. For anything larger media blast it...

    DUKW data plates

I would hit Rex Ward first. I have found some serious issues with the Lt Horne plates in the past. Get photos of the plates first. Then compare with the TM (all TMs for the CCKW/DUKW show the current issue data plates. I believe you want TM9-802. You'd be surprised at what some of the...

CCKW deep sump oil pan decal

I have made a somewhat important discovery regarding the decal on the oil pan (the oil filter is in another thread). Most of the info is here: tm9-801.com • View topic - CCKW Oil pan Decal info - SOLVED! But the major points are: It was only on the 'deep sump' oil pan. The decal even has...

    Cannibalized while waiting for EUC!

What about places (like Mechanicsburg) that FORBID cameras (your cell phone camera also)? All you have is the GL photos, so better keep a copy.

    Who needs what parts?

I could use a dash with gauges. If you find them I can help with removal of parts. I am only a few hours away and work M-Th (4 10's). So if you need another set of hands to pick parts I can help.

    euc battle creek

EUC Submitted to BC on 12/7 I am at 26 days... hoping for late Jan/Early Feb pickup. I have had Top Secret SIOP:ESI clearance in the Navy, a background check as a State employee and a Secret clearance as a BAE employee (within the last 4 years). They should type my name in and every...

    GL-1 Gear Oil Alternative

I hope it didn't seem like I was attacking anyone, its just that after 5 pages of posts I cannot even get to the source of where this GL-1 oil came from. If it is in a TM, its over 20 years old. I think if GL-5 based LO was going to rot a driveline it would do it by now. If you feel the...
