    Deuce tow bar question

That may have been our problem... taking way to tight turns like a car rather than swinging out like a tractor trailer.

What are you using to collect WMO

If you stay with 250gal totes then your total weight should be under 1 ton (oil is 8lbs/gal * 250 = 2000 + tare weight. You could easily build a gantry from wood or buy a steel one to lift it on/off. Thats my plan for this summer.

    Thank you paulfarber!

Those picture do no do justice to the 8 inches of ice water under the trucks. Its amazing how well you can tolerate the cold once hypothermia set in. Michael at the Mechanicsburg lot was TRULY a GREAT guy. He pulled out the truck about 10 feet so we could PM the truck without laying in a...

    Deuce tow bar question

I had to ask! It was killing me that we could not figure it out. We simply could not get that towed truck to turn. Even with a driver in the 2nd cab it was a biatch to steer. Trucks are fine, btw. My coonhoud barked at them all day. I should honk the horn next time she starts to sing to it..

    Deuce tow bar question

I'm pretty sure we had the towbar between a running and a towed deuce set up properly, yet whenever the towing M35 turned, the towed M35 countersteered and nearly ripped the tires off the rims. For example, turned right, towed M35 countersteered left (fully to the left) and drug the front end...

    towing/recovery charges

And your reference for this is? You don't get off scott free with a simply 'YMMV' or 'IMHO', not without losing credibility.

Battle of the Bulge Reenactment Jan25-30

The demeanor and attitudes of WWII combat veterans just 2-5 years after the war are going to be significantly different now. So asking if a saying from 1947 would have the same meaning today is not really a fair question. We didn't start to give them the due credit till the 80s-90s. I think...

Battle of the Bulge Reenactment Jan25-30

Ost Front (a few weeks after the bulge cluster f___ )Its invite only so no drag kings and units are much more squared away. There are so many more quality events... this one simply won't die.... mainly becuase the cap busters are a larger % of attendees. The Gap used to the do all end all...

    2nd official Michigan MVPA meeting

Why not post a link to a recorded version? Oh, wait, I made sense... sorry. Although you ARE keeping in the grand tradition of the MVPA by shunning any useful technology. [thumbzup] Don't worry, this is my last post on your topic.

What exactly is an EUC for?

If I though I could weasel a tank from a backwoods municipality who would rather have money for a new play set for the kiddie park than a historical MV you bet I would. I would do it with a smile on my face and go out for steak afterwords. I would pay cash and have it of there by the end of...

What exactly is an EUC for?

I'd rather it 'go missing' (into private collections) that sit out and rot because some municipality would rather ignore it than take care of it. Name me ONE gubment database that is even close to being correct and up to date. I'm sure the EUC is a lot like the NICS handgun check. A basic...

What exactly is an EUC for?

Are you serious? I mean you REALLY believe that? I am not trying to attack you, but this truly is your train of thought? REALLY? McVeigh RENTED his truck. Stealing a cargo van or tractor trailer is a bajillion times easier than bidding on a truck that may or may not run, getting an EUC...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Just as a talking point, if any MVs are historically plated, will their insurance cover being 3000+ miles from home, in another country, being operated non-stop for 30 days? My historical coverage is only for 'occasional' trips, not a daily driver... I would also think that being in another...

    2nd official Michigan MVPA meeting

Sorry to but in buy why don't you record the proceedings and make them available via a private channel on say, YouTube? You have to have recorded minutes as per most by-laws, and *someone* has to have a video camera and a PC with a high speed connection. Best quote: Many church goers have...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

I read the 2009 AAR and while 'over 125 MVs' participated AT LEAST 41 MVs HAD A PROBLEM. There might have been more, since the response was voluntary. So, 41/125 = 33% of the MVs had an issue. Most had more than one, I counted one guy with 5. Go, don't go, just be prepared. Another...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Not really. I am pointing out the issues that you need to be aware of. Would you rather know how to stay legal NOW, or when the Mounty is cuffing you becuase you had 'no idea' it was illegal to take a gun to Canada? Do you think ICE is going to give you a mulligan at the boarder becuase you...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Hunting? You expect to export and reimport a firearm? You are leaving the US, and unless there is some special law allowing US citizens to take guns to Canada without a TON of paperwork (Canada doesn't seem to be a very gun friendly country) I'd quadruple check that 'going hunting in canada'...

HOW CAN GL sa I have 10 days only open 3 days in the 10.

Call them. Its 10 business days IIRC. If they only have 3 business days that week then you still should have another 7 left. Don't take the GL haters to seriously on this board... most people have great things to say about GL working with them. Any business will have a certain % of unhappy...

    1942 coffe truck

Other than the CCKW being, at best, average, how are you supposed to get that big honkin platform around? Is there a trailer that goes with it? Another vehicle? This reminds me of the Military Vehicles magazine ads for $20,000 NATO return CCKWs... you can ask whatever you want for your...

    1942 coffe truck

Its a random collection of CCKW parts... nobody is going to touch that for $65k. The 'shop' part is nice, but you are not getting a CCKW of any real value. One the web site its 'never been fully restored' on the ebay ad its 'fully restored'. Its a decent ST-5 from the outside, but it quickly...
