deuce falls on it face on hills

Check tire pressure! TMs say run at 50PSI on hard surface roads.. I generally run at highest tire pressure marked on the tire for my car/motorcycle/jeep/CCKW. My bicycle tires are inflated to 90PSI! You will not hurt ANYTHING if you run the tires at MAX PSI (or a few under it). Run them to...

    antique registration

Every State is different. There are, however, some 'constants' that seem to be true in every State: The DMV does not know what they are talking about. Do your research, and print out/take them with you when you go to the DMV in cases you get a DMV agent that stopped understanding their job...

    MVPA and Government Liquidation

Until GL starts selling Ford GPWs or MBs the MVPA will not care.. its another source of ad revenue. The MVPA started off as, and will always be, a jeep club. They will pay lip service to other MVs, but unless you are in a quarter ton there is not much there for you. The MVPA wants the $$$...

    Mandatory Deuce tools

"4 six ton jack stands Heavy-duty hydraulic bottle jack (at least 10 ton cap?)" WHY? Unless you are going to lift and balance an M35 on one stand with one jack, ok. But a 3 ton jack and 3 ton jack stands are fine, and cheaper. Just had this discussion on a CCKW forum. Guys had 20-50ton...

    How to get it home?

Um, many POV trucks weight more than a deuce and even with modern antilock dual circuit brakes get into crashes. This argument holds zero water. What if you get hit by lightning? What if lawn gnomes attack? what if what if what if. Are you saying you practice 'no brakes' drill in your POV (I...

    How to get it home?

I still don't get this whole 'they are hard to drive' thing, or basing the difficulty on the weight. The only thing hard about the M35 is that the gear shift pattern is a bit goofy (4 and 5th are 'backwards' from an automobile shift pattern). Visibility? Get in a Dodge Caliber and you'll see...

    How to get it home?

Tires definitely need air. Left front looks flat. For 100 miles you are in a tight spot.... local guys will charge you for 200 miles (gotta get back home) and long haul may not want to deal with the load/unload for the price they would charge for the short haul. I'm optimistic about these...

    Southern MI swap May 13-15

GPW drivers seat (small mouth gas tank preferred, but really only need it for parts) Two jeep combat rims (I have a 1/4ton trailer to shoe) For my 66 Deuce: Early deuce 'cat eye' type marker lights Early deuce mirrors

    Must sell my 666

There are POVs that meet that criteria.. let me see.. F250s can break 10K. Any of those on the street in AZ? Last thing you want to do is take a gooberment official at their word. There is a reason the laws are in writing. Get the statute number you are being cited for and look it up. My...

    How long at Battle Creek?

but when guys are getting first time EUCs in 14 days you have to gently apply the heat and find out what the problem is. If GL needs to be 'reminded' that DLA is waiting for some paperwork it seems that stepping g in and nipping it in the bud is your only option.

    How long at Battle Creek?

I'm at close to 60 days.. I called the DLA phone number and a lady took my info.. guess it will take a day or so to make to the right dept. Once I mentioned GL and EUC I think that cleared up what I was after. Will see what happens.

Someone PLEASE post a receipt where in 2010/2011 they got $1500+ for scrapping a deuce.

    Deuce A2 - Opinion

You CAN get a late 60's early 70s deuce running for $1200-$1500. I did. The guy I helped last week for two runners for less than $2k each. I guess I do sound a bit negative, but this is my fourth antique vehicle and I've made all the mistakes (I will never tell how much I paid for my jeep...

    Deuce A2 - Opinion

You are missing a spare. most of the rust is simply painted over, under the paint waiting to bubble. Not trying to be disparaging about your purchase, but you still need to dump $200-500 into it (spare, title, taxes etc). Be ready for it, and the other 10,000 things you still need to do to...

    Deuce A2 - Opinion

I'm sure that there are varying levels of GL employee competence, but you did read the GL rules? And no used car dealer ever snookered an unwitting person (like the OP)? The biggest red flag I see is there is no SF-97. That's your title from the gooberment, if the 'dealer' doesn't have it...

    Deuce A2 - Opinion

But even if all of what you said is true.. is that 'risk' worth the $2000+ premium you are paying? If the first truck is a turkey, you have another $2000 left to buy ANOTHER truck. :) BIG RED FLAG is that there is no SF-97. A 'dealer' selling on a bill of sale and no title? BIG RED FLAG. A...

    Deuce A2 - Opinion

Seller is ripping you off compared to getting it off GL direct. You are getting NO WARRANTY, and getting little more than a truck off the GL lot with a $1500-$2000 mark up. Truck is probably an early/mid 70s with an 80s rebuild. I doubt that there is any service other than enough to get...
