    atf in fuel???

its slickerer than the current diesel, more lubrication for pumps and such...... in small quantitiies, as I understand it is rumored to possibly cause glazing on cylinder walls in large quantities. I typically just add 1qt of "cheap *ss oil" 30w or whatever I find

    amp hook up

Westech That's why I started with the question "what Amps are you drawing?". The military radios weren't big amp hogs, but on high power with the fans running, I'm betting they were close to 25-30 Amps.... I'll look at the wires left from the tear out (previous owner) that is in the cab. I'm...

    amp hook up

Understand the charging system, but the stock configuration draws off the distribution block in the engine compartment. Wouldn't it make sense to hook up power from there? I guess no matter where you hook to, put in a big FAT capacitor and FUSE...

    amp hook up

Westech, Wouldn't you want to "balance" the syatem and come off the distribution block in the engine compartment? or does it not matter ?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Dragon, Look before drilling, most if not all M1009's were wired to accept the radios for the military. There should already be a hole were the original wires came through or still might be there just cut off. Mine are still there, but the distribution block in the rear is gone.

    motor replacement

Whats the best glow plug for the cucv

I just did the replacement with the AC 60G's. I haven't done the resistor bypass but planning on doing next chance I get. Mine were a mix of wellmans and other brand # 233??? I think I had about 3 or 4 bad, out of spec. M1009 starts with a single twist and runs great!! gonna do the airfilter...

    Cucv Wiki

Not sure where the following info belongs, but I had a heck of a time locating gaskets for the front and rear differentials. The correct FELPRO number is RDS 55075. It is the "paper" gasket, not the neoprene one. NAPA, OReilly, Advance, Autozone had a difficult time understanding what I was...

    winter starting

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but you mention the wellman gp's..... are they preferred over the AC's. I thought the AC's had a bad reputation????:lost: I need to replace my gp's but can't find a local source for the wellmans.... Should I buy the AC's instead. Mine is still stock with nothing...

    When to lock front hubs

My "Rule of Thumb" is if I think I'm gonna need 4 wheel drive. I lock em in!! If I end up not needing them, it's just a bonus!! It's not a daily driver so no worry about on-road issues. When I lock them in I usually do a "once around" the vehicle, with one of the sons driving while I check the...
