I saw one for the first time at BIC (Blount Island Command) and took some close up shots. They are definitely not your average truck. It has all kinds of special packages on it. You definitely could not replicate one yourself. I will post the pics later today.
Good point Marti. I had plenty of loads shift on me from not shackling the chains together. I know better, being lazy I guess, no excuses. Thanks for pointing that out to our members.
I had a similiar problem with with the transmission being stuck in 3rd. It was caused by a little corrosion on the valves located underneath the transmission in the pan. Over time a little water will settle out of the fluid from sitting up over a long period of time and corrode the valves...
Same starter except the bolts are smaller on the 8.3 motor. You need to get the special bolt sleeves in order for it to work and also rotate the head. There are a couple of 24V civilian starters that work just fine for the 8.3 and is alot lighter than the huge Lee starters.
It would be a major under taking. Different radiator is used, different intakes, different exhaust piping, different linkages, ....etc . its more than just simply switching a motor out.
For the record. M939A2 wheel seals are NOT the same as the M939A1s or the older 800 series.. The front wheels actually take two different size bearings.. Not sure about the rears on the A2s.
Had the same problem with a M35. For the longest time I thought it was a bad air pack and all kind of other stuff. It turned out to be simple shoe adjustments on each wheel using the cam on the back side of the wheel hub/back plate. The shoes just had too much travel in them and the pedal would...

Good to hear that. Just got back from TBS in Quantico, VA. I decided to invest in my Marine career and became a Warrant Officer. At 34 they still didn't cut you any slack and you go through the same course as the 21 year old Lt's minus the rifle range.
Looking forward to seeing...
I am not aware of any A2s with lockers in the rear. The Marines are usually the ones putting lockers on their trucks. That being said, the Marines never used the A2 variant so I think you would be hard pressed to find a A2 with a locker.
However, the Navy procured a few A2s and I know they...
Why didn't I think of that? Tim and Pam came to the rescue for sure. There were no loading docks nearby and the excavator blew a hose. Barely limped it back into the yard. 100 deg heat and wrecker chains dont mix well. Just remember. The bigger the truck the bigger and heavier the tools...
Justin along with yourself and Pam are good people. Good people have a tendency to find each other in the world. When I tell friends about the folks I got to know over the internet through Steel Soldiers they just dont believe me nor do they want to understand it. Good folks are out there and...
