First of all I must say that I am really enjoying this topic. Secondly, even though the most common pattern we see of the MERDC is the winter pattern, it suits summer as well as winter due to the the brown - green combo. Therefore I believe most units just left that pattern on the vehicle all...
I was thinking the same. I doubt the impellers wore off. How high of a reading do the infared guns go up to by the way? can it read over 1000 deg F? See where I am goin with this? ....a cheap pyrometer?
Look here at the MUTT. BTW, Mutt Guru website (I don't know the direct address) shows excellent pictures (vintage and new) of Mutts in MERDC.

Ditto. I should of stated that in my post also. I purchased all of my MERDC paint from RAPCO and use Gillespie. For the black I used Rustoleum FLAT BLACK. It holds up extremely well.
Black and Sand comprise the same amount. BTW, when you decide to repaint your vehicle with the correct Forrest green, you will notice it is MUCH darker than what you commonly find on the older trucks. After doing some experimenting, I found heat is the major contributing factor in that faded...
A little thing I noticed about M35A3s (and just M35A3s) is that the brown that AM General used during the rebuilds is not the same shade brown use on all the other vehicles in the fleet. The brown on M35A3s seems not to be carc but rather the older field drab on the MERDC camo patterns.

Guys, I am looking for an M35A2 canvas cargo cover that is either new or in really good shape. I need the end curtains, too. I am thinking that it might be difficult to find a new one since they are getting kind of rare so I may have to settle for a good used canvas cargo cover. I know I can...
The reason I brought up the "tear out" factor is because I am an engineer (mechanical, but not a licensed P.E.) and I see this done all the time at construction sites and its a big "no no". They (consrtuction workers) are always looking for improvised "hooks" and try making them out of plate...
Did you do the calcs to make sure you have enough enough on the circle end to prevent a tear out? It looks like you used plate which is not nearly as strong as a "forged" end. Just thinking of safety.
I bid on several myself but I just have to many fires on the burner right now. Congrats to all who got one. You couldn't have asked for better pricing.
My rule of thumb is usually this.
When I sell a truck for $2000 or less, its not worth it to me to go through the hassle of obtaining a title for the truck unless the buyer wants to compensate me for that procees and usually they pay the extra for the title.
However, when I buy a truck for...
