CVT1 is where all the current for the exciter field comes from, so if the windings at X1, X2, and X3 are bad you can't get any output. I don't see how all three would fail at once, but it might be worth checking their resistances against the values in TM5-6115-585-34.pdf
Also, that CVT1...
A regulator failure can cause no output, but it's more likely to cause too much output... overvoltage. You can disconnect the wire from terminal 17 of your regulator and tape the wire end so it doesn't accidentally contact something, and run the generator briefly. If the regulator was causing...
I would check to see if you have 24 VDC present in the control cabinet. If the bad battery effetively became an open circuit while the generator was last running, you may have had a capacitor on a fuel pump short, causing the 24v breaker to trip. If that's the case, remove the bad capacitor...
Same here, except they managed to get the power restored in a couple hours. The 003A did its job as usual. Sorry your power was off that long, but from what I saw of the Duke Energy outage map, you weren't alone.
I'm not surprised at the starting current. I worked with some big blowers that had 3-phase Baldor motors. They took a long time to come up to speed so it was easy to see the starting current. Ranging from 5 to 15 hp, they all started out at 10 times the running current. In my case I ended up...
I've tried all my life to relate battery brand and warranty to actual life, and I've failed. I have a pair of Walmart batteries in my MEP-003. They're 7-1/2 years old and still crank the engine fine. I don't keep them on a charger of any kind, I just run the generator about monthly.
Renuing, even though you live in Hawaii the glow plugs are needed, since it's a prechamber type deisel. The control system is wired to run them while the starter is cranking the engine, so it can seem like they're not needed, but if you run them 20 or 30 seconds before cranking you'll find it...
Hello Aaawolfe, welcome to the forum. It's also possible that there's something in one cylinder that the piston hits. I've seen engines that had a valve fall in, for example.
The trucking company that brought mine insisted that the sender put it on a pallet (skid). I told them it has one built in, but they wouldn't listen. Everything has to be on a separate pallet. There should be an exception for items that are made with an integral skid.
Actually the battery meter shows mid scale, frequency is showing full scale (above 60 Hz), and the voltmeter seems to be showing something a bit above 100 VAC, which might be close to correct depending on the setting of the reconnect switch.
I've never seen one that color, but with all the...
Like robertsears1 said, my county lets me do all the work, since I'm the owner of the property. I'm fortunate about that, since the county I grew up in won't let that happen. It's worth looking into for your next project.
I like to go talk to the inspector before I do any work that requires a...
Well, there is that big problem of the intermittent open on CVT1's H1-H2 winding.
Measuring 1/2 an ohm that way in CT1's windings is difficult. You'd be better off putting an amp though the winding and seeing if you have 0.5 volts drop across it. Or adjust a current though it to get a 1 volt...
